The cover of Golf Digest's May issue features Paulina Gretzky, the daughter of the famed hockey player. According to The New York Times, only 11 women have graced the cover alone since 1969.

One of those women told the paper: 'It's like, What do you have to do to get a little respect? I'm guaranteeing you right now, it was not a woman editor who chose that cover.'

With so many upset, the magazine's editor-in-chief decided to respond to the cover's critics.

'Sports figures, celebrities and models have appeared on Golf Digest covers since the magazine's beginning. Paulina ranks at the high end of the golf celebrity scene today, and she has a compelling story to tell.'

A writer for CBS reports the editor-in-chief thought the cover might get some new people interested in golf. The writer quipped, "I don't disagree."
