Since its premiere in October, many have been wondering whether singer/songwriter Carole King would ever come and see the Broadway musical based on her life. Well, the "TODAY" show says she shocked everyone by finally making an appearance.

KING: 'I've been working up to coming. I haven't seen the show. This is the first night.'
REPORTER: 'She says after watching the show, she could not be more proud.'

You can see how thrilled everyone was when they saw the heroine of the Broadway musical!

As a teenage girl living in Brooklyn, King worked hard to make her way into the record business in the 1950s.

"Beautiful - The Carole King Musical" tells the story of King's rise to stardom with the help and support of her songwriting husband Gerry Goffin and close friends.

The musical's Facebook says the entire cast and crew was "honored" that the "Some Kind of Wonderful" singer attended their show.

One lucky theatergoer managed to capture King's surprise appearance and an impromptu performance of her hit song "You've Got a Friend."
