Strahan to join 'Good Morning America' part time

NEW YORK (AP) - Talk show host and former football star Michael Strahan is expected to soon join the cast of ABC's "Good Morning America," at least on a part-time basis.

A person with knowledge of the negotiations who requested anonymity because the deal hasn't been completed said Tuesday that Strahan will work semi-regularly during the show's first hour. Strahan continues as host of the daytime talker "Live with Kelly and Michael."

The top-rated morning news show has lost two male cast members in the past four months: Sam Champion to The Weather Channel and Josh Elliott to NBC Sports, the latter in a deal expected to be formally announced Wednesday. Talks with Strahan reportedly predate Elliott's departure, announced on Sunday.

Strahan would join cast members George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, Amy Robach, Lara Spencer and weather forecaster Ginger Zee.

OMG strahan has ZERO personality! Ripa has to work twice as hard to keep ratings up. Robin Roberts sucks at interviewing... All she does is kiss ass for half the interview. Does Beyoncé fund abc? They idolize her as if she has real talent. She's not educated doesn't write her own music and can't play an instrument. She sexualities herself, that is her only talent-if you can call that talent.
I can barely tolerate Roberts, I hope strahan is not added..! Ugh

I miss the sitcom with Carl Weathers and CC Pounder (parents), good luck to him, he's doing great.

ABC certainly cannot think out of the box....couldn't they get someone else part-time. Strahan already complains he's "so busy and overworked", please! So many other replacements could be a better fit. Come on ABC, think think think!

Whatever they do, I hope they keep Amy Robach on the show. She is a breath of fresh air on that show. Easily the most down-to-Earth personality of the group.

Hated to see Josh Elliott leave. As much as I like everyone on the show, Josh always appeared to be a very down to earth kind of guy and presented the news without any drama and his own personal touch... the way it should be, I already miss his not being there anymore. I would have thought a new contract could have been reached.

Josh, as a replacement for Matt Lauer?, it would be welcomed!!! The Today Show has just become so boring and nothing upbeat about it at all... needs some new faces, something upbeat, and something that get you going in the morning!!

I think Michael has enough on his plate, can't believe they can't find anyone with all the ABC affiliates there has to be someone. They were desperate as it was losing it's male audience with the imbalance.
