Celebrity Withdraws From 'Dancing With The Stars'

'Star Wars' star Billy Dee Williams said goodbye to the ballroom on "Dancing With The Stars" -- by choice.

The actor -- who suffers from chronic back pain -- withdrew from the competition per his doctor's recommendation.

BILLY DEE: "You know, I've had a wonderful, brilliant, fantastic blast of a time. Working with the wonderful, beautiful young woman."

BILL DEE: "Pure joy."

Zap2It found the withdrawal/elimination awkward ... because at first it sounded like Billy was just going to take a week off.

"Since many dancers have to sit out only a week after an injury, this didn't necessarily mean Williams was done for good. The finality of it all only became evident as the actor talked ... On the plus side, this is great news for everyone else on the show -- they get to keep dancing for another week!"

And as Wetpaint notes, Billy Dee probably would've gone home this week anyway, withdraw or not. He landed at the bottom of the leaderboard in the first two weeks of the competition.
