NFL Training Camp 2014: Greenbrier, Napa Valley Marriott Set to Host Teams
Baseball spring training wraps up this week, so time to make travel plans for NFL training camp 2014 (after all, isn't it just easier on the sports fans' psyche when the loses don't count?). Opening in late July, two of pro football's 32 teams have their camps at hotels, making it even easier for travelers to get back and forth from their rooms to the practice fields.
New Orleans Saints: The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
In its 236 years, The Greenbrier has hosted 26 U.S. presidents, European royalty and legendary golfers. This summer the West Virginia resort will add saints to that list, specifically the New Orleans Saints (ba-dum-ching) when it hosts the team's preseason practices. It's the first year the Saints will encamp in the Allegheny Mountains.
Pit bosses at the resort's casino though should keep an eye on Saints players, at least the defensive ones, who saddle up for games of chance and skill: the team is just three years removed from a nasty cheating scandal.
Oakland Raiders: Napa Valley Marriott, Napa, California
Close to more than 400 wineries, the Napa Valley Marriott is the perfect spot for the Oakland Raiders to return for their training camp in 2014 -- coming off a 4-12 2013 campaign and not making any major off-season improvements, the Silver and Black's likely going to drive its fans to drink again in 2014. Garçon, do you have a Syrah that pairs well with a 12-year playoff drought?
