Christian school complains 8-year-old tomboy isn't feminine enough

Christian School Complains 8-Year-Old Tomboy Isn't Feminine Enough
The family of an 8-year-old Virginia girl has removed her from her private Christian school after the school complained her appearance wasn't feminine enough. HLN has more.

'We're talking about Timberlake Christian School in Virginia. It sent a letter to Sunnie Kahle's grandparents and they said she wouldn't be allowed to go to school next year if she didn't follow biblical standards and look more like a girl.'

WDBJ spoke with Doris Thompson, Sunnie's great-grandmother and legal guardian, who says Sunnie actually used to have long hair down to her waist until she asked for a haircut when she was five years old.

'She wanted to give it to a little child that had cancer who lost his hair. I said that's great, so we cut her hair and then she started wanting to dress in jeans and a t-shirt.'

CBS says the school got wind that students were asking Sunnie whether she was a girl or a boy, so the elementary principal, Becky Bowman, sent a letter home with Sunnie in February saying: 'We believe that unless Sunnie and her family clearly understand that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education.'

'The letter goes on to say ... that administrators can refuse enrolling for condoning sexual immorality, practicing homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity.'

School administrators told WSET they're just asking Sunnie and her family to follow the school's guidelines. Sunnie's grandparents have since taken her out of Timberlake Christian School and enrolled in her their local public school.

Sunny did a christian act by donating her hair for a child that was under going chemo therapy, but I think the school stepped over the line about the homosexual comment. I do understand that the school has rules and standards but the homosexual comment was inappropriate. More than likely she is going through a phase as all children do, she seems to be raised in a good family with good values.

She's obviously a dyke but still, for the school to call her homosexual at that age is horrible. Leave it to Christians to hate even children that are different

If this was a case where Sunnie said she thought she was really a boy and wanted to start using the boys' restroom at school, I might be persuaded to support the school, but never, in any of the stories I've read has she done so. If she were my child I'd take her out of school as well.

Timberlake Christian School.....hmmmmmm......I wonder what Christ would say
Religiousity has rarely served to provide Christ's teachings, just man's .

This school says that they are Christians then they should be like christians.
Jesus would not do what they are doing. Please if you want to teach his words
then teach his words and his ways. Not your words and not your ways.
Love oneanother as he has loved all of us.

these are the same kind of "christians" who would call Jesus a Hippie Jew and tell him to cut his hair and wear a suit, if they ever met him face to face. This is the kind of thing that gives religions a bad name.

Does anyone even wonder why it took civilization so long to get out of the stone age mentality? Oh wait...we haven't. Never mind.

supposedly...Jesus had long hair ....does that make him a girl..???. whoever said it...they are right ...they give christianity a bad name...because Jesus said ...'Let the children come to me"...they should read their Bible....
