TV Pitchman Kevin Trudeau Receives 10-Year Jail Sentence

TV Pitchman Kevin Trudeau Receives 10-Year Jail Sentence
Are you aware that the overwhelming majority of what you eat everyday is poisoning you? Or that drugs actually cause illness and disease? Kevin Trudeau makes these blatanty false claims in his book "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About." And now he's paying for it.

The self-proclaimed "fearless whistleblower" was sentenced Monday to 10 years in jail on top of an earlier fine $37 million for cheating people out of millions with his weight-loss book and fraudulent infomercials. (Via WLS-TV)

The convicted pitchman attempted to apologize with a 20 minute speech in court saying: "I see now that I have made many mistakes along the way. I have learned my lesson in more ways and at more levels than you could ever know. If I could do it all over again, I would do things very, very differently." (Via WMAQ)

But the judge wasn't impressed and instead slammed Trudeau for his dubious ways.

"Since the age of 25, he has steadfastly attempted to cheat others for his own personal gain. He is decietful to the very core."

Trudeau was banned from infomercials and fined $2 million by the FTC in 2004 in order to "shut down an infomercial empire that has misled American consumers for years."

The FTC says Trudeau violated that ban in 2007 by misrepresenting one of his books in another infomercial. A writer at Slate found Trudeau's sentencing overdue, saying:

"I have to admit to a powerful sense of schadenfreude; Trudeau's been avoiding any sort of real punishment for years. Remember, through his books, radio show, and infomercials, he sold quack cures aimed at people who were sick. I have very, very little sympathy for him."

USA Today reports that Trudeau's attorney argued his pitches were not unlike other ads. "Watch any television commercial for any product - it's the views and opinions of the persons who are making and selling the product."

Trudeau has said that he plans on appealing the sentence.

So, is Dr. Oz next for his scam weight loss? When are they going to start jailing the bankers for ripping off the entire country of trillions of dollars? Or FoxNews for lying to us? Oh, that's right, the courts determined the media is allowed to lie to us. What a joke this is!

Any time Fox News mentions something not being covered by the liberal media they are lying ? Just keep on thinking like that and continue electing people like Barack Hussein Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Al Franken and Debbi Wasserman-Shultz. They are doing a good job leading this country in the wrong direction. Think for yourself, take personal responsibility and your chances of getting ripped off greatly diminish.

For the person that made the Fox news comment, the following is from Wikipedia:

Trudeau has been interviewed by CNN's Paula Zahn,[35] Matt Lauer of NBC's Today Show, and Harry Smith of CBS's The Early Show.[36] Trudeau was also the subject of investigative reports done by Inside Edition,[37] ABC's 20/20[38] and Dateline NBC.[39] The 20/20 segment highlighted a Nightline interview with Jake Tapper in which Trudeau misrepresented the money he was forced to pay to the government, the charges filed against him and the reason the government did not follow-through with charges, and claiming ignorance when the claims made in his book were called false by Tapper.[38] Trudeau was interviewed by Jacques Peretti for the fourth episode of the series The Men Who Made Us Thin on BBC2.

During interviews, Trudeau has often said that the television program in which he is being interviewed is owned by the drug companies. In some cases Trudeau has told his supporters, via his newsletters, that he has been attacked on a particular program or by a particular interviewer.

Please note that he was NOT interviewed by Fox. Gosh, I wonder why?

There are far too many misleading commercials/advertisements. Unfortunately advertisements are woven into the fabric of our economy and lives . . . . . I wish this sentence would send a message to and change the behavior of other advertisers -- but it unfortunately won't.

What a crock. For those who do not recognize what has happened here, this is a clear message to all of us peon Americans; Blue collar crime will be prosecuted, no matter the cost! This guy was pursued around the world b y the US Government. There are 1000 diet books written every year, dozens of companies claiming "testosterone booster" pills sold and hundreds of other "self help" products, none of which work and all of them cost $ 29.95 or more. This guy gets 10 years in prison for selling $ 30 diet books? Some Senator's wife bought the book but didn't lose the pounds? There are MANY people who spent less time for murder in many States. The Blue collar guys get 10 years while the bankers and mortgage brokers who scammed people out of BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars and nearly caused the entire world's economy to collapse, they are not even pursued. Funding for any prosecution of hundreds of people ( all White collar & Rich) who ultimately destroyed the lives of millions of Americans by stealing retirement funds, pension funds and mortgages has been withdrawn. Hundreds of people killed themselves or died in despair because of the greed of the wall street thieves and nothing but a couple of paltry fines were issued. No person has been convicted or paid back a penny out of the money they stole. The fines were assessed to brokerage or Mortgage houses themselves, not individuals. We live in a country where the average man is discriminated against all of the time. The rich pay to avoid jail, they paid lower interest rates, lower tax's and on and on. DISCRIMINATION is against the law. Not the law of the rich and corrupt US Government.

SO RIGHT SIR!! WELL SAID! Some senators wife probably DID buy it. And is mad. Too bad our senators can't be held just as accountable for all THEIR misdeeds! And all the OTHER polititians also. All the way from my podunk little New Engand village right up tho the POTUS himself. The jails would all be full, but the entire country would be better off!

Kevin Trudeau is honest compared to the knife pitch commercials, where their knife cutting ability's suddenly get experienced while slicing with the knife they are pitching. As stated by USA Today reports that Trudeau's attorney argued his pitches were not unlike other ads. "Watch any television commercial for any product - it's the views and opinions of the persons who are making and selling the product."

So, who gets the $37 million? That's who is really profiting.

Why do these scumbags call their criminal activity a mistake? A mistake is when one adds a column of figures and gets a wrong answer. I see stories al the time where crooks appologize for their mistakes. The mistake was getting caught!
