Sheriff's office bans Arias defense aide from jail

Boyfriend Slaying

PHOENIX (AP) - A member of Jodi Arias' defense team is banned from the jail in Phoenix where Arias is being held until her murder case's penalty phase starts in September.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says mitigation specialist Maria De La Rosa is banned from its jails because she recently took a drawing by Arias out of the jail.

The Sheriff's Office says the drawing is contraband and that De La Rosa cannot deliver things for Arias, who was convicted in May of first-degree murder in the 2008 killing of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

De La Rosa attorney Dan Raynak tells The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/PLL6gt ) that the ban is outrageous and that she only handled legal material.

Arias attorney Jennifer Willmott says the drawing was of potential use in Arias' mitigation case.

Give her some rope and let her determine her own penalty

Don't waste your time Ron. The bloodthirsty trolls are the ones screaming about Sharia Law coming to this country because of Obama yet would have Arias taken out back and stoned to death.

jail does not need to be capitalized Judy..plus you drop the "E" when adding ing...removing is the correct way.. I am surprised, most people who make these glaring mistakes are guys, usually not too many from women....Makes me wonder if you really are a Judy

I am sorry, but the fact that she can draw doesn't make her life worth saving, stop using that as an excuse.

Actually, most of her "drawings" are tracings or copies of originals. Been shown many times. And there is no excuse for what she did.

How sad that this evil pos has been found guilty. If she gets the death penalty, the laws allow her a lot of appeals, with the taxpayers footing the bill. Sadly, Travis Alexander and his family have no appeals. She admitted killing him, why should she be allowed appeals. There is something very wrong with our legal system to allow this travesty!

Because at this point hon, if she and her defense team can get a retrial, through some proven wrong doing by the State, Jodi gets to spend another 4 flippin' months in court and in front of the cameras. She would be praying for a lesser crime such as manslaughter or an acquital. She's also fighting to get life in prison vs the death penalty.

You know how you can tell repub comments? They make a lot of mistakes and then have 8 or 9 people agreeing. Kind of the herd mentality..Your 1st sentence is wrong. You are saying it is sad she was found guilty..That is what all you idiots wanted wasn't it?
So are you sad she was found guilty...or happy she was found guilty? Do you even know?

This lawyer probably wanted to sell this and keep the money...There is certainly something in the water in AZ which makes millions of them losers/greedy/killers.

No, Maria De La Rosa was her mitigation specialist. And her "drawings" are probably not what is considered "legal" papers.

Ok, I can see that - but contraband? Good lord. It was a drawing and probably a poor one. What significance could this possibly have?

How about an execution like the one in "The Green Mile?" Now that would be something.

She needs an "all women" jury. The last jury hung because of her sexy eye contact with the men on the jury. She'll do it again. I would say though that most people would find it hard to execute a woman, regardless of her crime. I wouldn't, I'm all for the death penalty!

I think the fear that the judge could give her 20 years and then she gets parole is why the family is afraid to drop the death penalty thing...hoping it happens...I doubt it will..but IF the judge gives her parole she will be out when she is still young and dangerous enough in my opinion to stalk and possibly kill someone else

It's not up to the family.

It's been nice not hearing anything about her for so long. I thought she was in solitary.
