L'Wren Scott, Mick Jagger's girlfriend, found dead in N.Y.C.

NEW YORK (AP) -- L'Wren Scott, a fashion designer and celebrity stylist who was Mick Jagger's girlfriend, was found dead in Manhattan of a possible suicide, a law enforcement official said Monday.

The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the victim's next of kin had not yet been notified.

The official said Scott's assistant found her hanging from a doorknob at 10 a.m. Monday. The official said no note was found and there was no sign of foul play.

A spokeswoman for Mick Jagger says the singer was "completely shocked and devastated by the news." The pair had been dating since 2001.

Scott, who was adopted by Mormon parents and raised in Roy, Utah, had her own fashion label popular with celebrities. She was a fixture on Jagger's arm and, at around 6-foot-3, towered over her famous boyfriend.

She founded her high-end label in 2006 and recently created a more affordable line of clothes with Banana Republic.

On the red carpet, she has dressed stars like Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie.

"This is a horrible and tragic loss," said Madonna. "I'm so upset. I loved L'Wren's work and she was always so generous with me."

Just last month Scott canceled her London Fashion Week show, due to reported production delays.

Makeup artist Bobbi Brown collaborated with Scott last month on a cosmetics line called the Bobbi Brown x L'Wren Scott Collection.

"I am devastated by the tragic news about L'Wren," Brown said on her website. "She was a visionary designer who I very much enjoyed working with, but she was also smart and kind. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones during this very sad time."

No matter who you are or what your lifestyle-please may you RIP.....those of you judging should think twice for it is not for us to say....on your day you shall be looked upon not so well for taking his place in judgement! Money or not, drugs or not, we all have souls & are merely human born to make mistakes.

Although Jim has a good point, I fail to see how some one who is 6'3" can hang themselves on a doorknob. That's sort of like the people who commit suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head 4 times.

I agree. Also considering her latest work, I don't see why she would kill herself. I understand it's very stressful, but she had support out the yang so something isn't quite right about this...

Perhaps her plan was to take a drug and knock herself out, fall over and hang herself. She would be out of it and not able to save herself if she had a change of heart.

She was six million dollars in debt. She was too proud to ask Mick Jagger for help. She couldn't pay her creditors so she had to cancel her fashion show.

This does not make any sense,She was 6" 3" tall.So how in the world did she hand herslf from a door knob. There has to be something else to this story they do not want to tell the public.Where was Mick at the time. Where was anyone.Seems like if you are that famous thiere would be someone around close to her...
