Nearly 200 chickens seized from condemned home

Nearly 200 Chickens Seized From Condemned Home

What officials say they found in a Plainville, Connecticut home is almost unbelievable. WVIT reports almost 200 diseased chickens were found in this house. The state's Department of Agriculture called it "one of the most extreme cases ... of animal hoarding."

I can only imagine the smell. My grandparents had chickens and after shoveling chicken poo to clean out the coop, I can imagine what that house smelled like having never been cleaned.

What part of diseased didn't you understand? Just wondering. Sorry, that was rude! I'm just surprised how many people have commented- when I first saw this there weren't any comments at all. Shows you how long I've been hanging around! :(

RE: your question
You asked a question in another post farther down.....however.....it did not have a "reply" button for it...
But here's the answer to your question.

Your question:
" What does smh mean? I'm old and don't know all these short cuts. Anybody? "

"SMH" means......"shaking my head"......

I'm old too.....LOL....and sometimes I have to "google" them to find out what they mean........seriously....:))

Is it way to hard just to spell it out? Everyone does not text their messages, and keep their heads in a Phone.

I simply cannot fathom living in the level of "nastiness" that ANY of the "hoarders" live in.......

Animal hoarders....OR.....'regular' hoarders.....

It just makes me cringe at the thought.........

I agree. My wilfe is a Hoarder but doesn't think so. We are both in our seventies. Hers is clean and neat, good stuff but the house is full. The hall way alone has 35 lardge plastic containers of just Christmas Stuff.

Sorry, but used discarded stuff picked out of the trash, garbage cans and dumpsters is not, "neat, clean, good stuff". The mistake all hoarders make (you included) is thinking they (you) are different or not typical because their hoarding is somehow more organized or under control. You think that wife's your sickness and your sickness in living with it is somehow different because it is more organized or because you acknowledge it that you can control it. You can't.

I used to watch "Hoarders"....and...."Hoarders: Buried Alive" regularly. Only once.....just ONCE....did they
showcase an elderly lady that "hoarded" in the manner that your wife does......NEAT...CLEAN.....
"ORGANIZED hoarding"......she too kept her "stuff" in big plastic containers. Her house was clean and NOT nasty..... And I have NO doubt that hoarders like her and your wife....the neat...tidy....clean hoarders.....are FEW and far between.

And while the psychiatric community might consider hoarding to be an "illness".......for ME personally.....
ONCE you start tossing your "trash"....ANY of your "trash"......be it kitchen....bathroom....general.....ON
THE FLOOR and INTO the "mix of stuff"...... You have ceased to be a "hoarder" and are REALLY just a NASTY LAZY SLOB.

Charges of animal abuse? I agree, however, chickens kept as layers usually have way worse conditions then these apparently did. At least, these were allowed to move around. I don't know why when individuals do stuff like this, it's called abuse, but when big companies do worse, it called the cost of doing business.

I don't think the chickens needed to be put down. If they were taken to a nice farm where they could spread out and get fresh air, they likely would have recovered. I have lots of free-range chickens, and they have enough room that stuff like that doesn't spread as much.
