'Chrisley Knows Best' 'crazy' dad gets show trending

'Chrisley Knows Best' Premiere: One Crazy Dad

On 'Chrisley Know Best,' we met the Chrisley family, and all of Todd Chrisley's rules for them. It turns out he's pretty controlling. From discussing his awkward rules on ... uh ... sizing to spying on his family.

Still, the show really got viewers' attention, landing in the top 10 Google Trends searches after it aired. As of Tuesday AM, the show was searched over 100,000 times. It was also trending on Twitter.

So, what else happened on the wild premiere?

Todd put tracking devices on his kids' cars, monitored all their computer traffic, read all of their text messages and even threw his son's laptop into the pool as punishment.

In fact, E! dubbed Todd 'TV's craziest dad.'

'Colorful is one way to describe him. Todd is a self-made millionaire who strives for perfection in all areas of his life, especially with his children. But while some people may see what he says as harsh, there's usually a certain honesty there.'

The New Jersey Star-Ledger, on the other hand, isn't sold on the show just yet.

'At premiere's end, 'Chrisley Knows Best' comes off as a quaint glimpse into the life of a rich family that has growing pains of its own. But there's really not much conflict yet to make this show all that compelling.'

I imagine it (at least subconsciously) allows some folks to feel better about their own lives when viewed in comparison to the dysfunctional relationships found on so-called Reality TV.

he's a control freak, so insecure that he has to spy on everyone and that shows he does not trust them because he is not a trustworthy person himself - after the ads I saw promoting the show I knew from the first one I would never watch it - it is another reality tv show and we have too many of them already - its another jerk show like Honey Boo Boo and Duck Dynasty and those horrible Housewives of ____ shows - the major networks and many good shows on cable networks have a lot to choose from over this show

I watched the show and I feel two things-
If he doesn't want spoiled, entitled brats he shouldn't have given them the ridiculasly expensive cars and required they get jobs after school.
I do agree with his close-eyed handle on the kids and if more parents did this, and required their respect for themselves we would have less problems with them. The boot on the car tire was pure genius and telling his son 'this is not how you treat a lady' when he got them out of the cars backseat sent the son AND THE GIRL, that this is not acceptable.

Does this guy have a boyfriend too? If so, he should be incorporated into the show.

"But there's really not much conflict yet to make this show all that compelling."
That about sums up the American perspective. If it's not filled with drama,
we're not that interested. The more dysfunctional the better!
