After seven overtimes, high school hockey game ends in tie

It seemed like the never-ending hockey game. Two high school teams vying for the state championship in Ohio had to call it quits after too many overtimes. "Good Morning America" has a look at the game that just went on and on.

'They were tied going into overtime and then they were tied going into the second overtime, and then the third and the fourth all the way up to the seventh overtime.'

Finally, after a ridiculous number of overtimes, CBS reports officials ruled that Sylvania Northview and Saint Ignatius High School were co-champions, deeming the game a tie.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association wrote in a news release, 'Had a player been seriously injured in the eighth overtime due to fatigue, the decision to allow the game to continue would have been seriously questioned more than the decision to end it.'

In spite of concerns about players' safety, many were upset by the outcome.

One tweeted, 'Now neither team can honestly say they won states because they didn't win the game. Robbing kids of one of the best days of their lives...'

One St. Ignatius student wrote, 'In the end remember that our boys ARE state champs and congratulate them on an amazing game ... it just ended the wrong way.'

Believe it or not, this wasn't even the longest high school hockey game in Ohio's history. A 2007 game holds that record with eight overtimes!
