Young fan distraught over Callahan trade

This may be the most depressing video you'll watch all day. Young Ryan Hickey of Breezy Point, N.Y., was so distraught after hearing the Rangers traded their captain, Ryan Callahan, to the Lightning that he proceeded to cry as his mother prodded the meltdown. Watch it here:

What everyone is failing to realize is that little boy is so young, of course he's going to be upset about something he cares a lot about. If he wanted to watch TV and was told no he would probably get upset, that doesn't mean TV is the most important thing in his life he just likes it. Everyone bashing the parents saying that they're drilling hockey into his head just sound dumb. Everyone reacts differently to different things.

Hopefully the kid will get some good news soon that his Mom got traded...

If the kid's a Rangers fan he needs to get used to disappointment. Might as well do it while he's young.

I sympathize with the young fan. The Rangers traded for Marty St. Louis. Marty has been the SOUL of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who apparently have just traded their soul away!! Rangers player may be a wonderful person--know nothing about him--but Tampa is MUCH the worse for trading Marty to/for anybody. Apparently the cosmos agrees because they've fallen 2 places in the conference since the trade.

The operative phrase here is "...as the mother prodded the meltdown." Here's a "mom" who saw a chance for her 15 minutes of fame and used her son as the pawn to obtain it.

On the other side of the coin, he will get over it and be stronger because of it. Today we shield our children from adversity to the point where they don't know how to deal with it when the become adults.

Mom should pay for his therapy on that one.
