Did Bob Costas get eye infection from Botox?

We all know NBC anchor Bob Costas battled through a nasty eye infection while hosting the prime-time coverage Winter Olympics this year. But the New York Post has investigated - how did he get it in the first place?

A source told the Post's Page Six, "Bob's eye infection was due to botched Botox. This isn't the first time he's had it."

"If you've been watching, you've seen Bob Costas, and he will not be in the anchor chair tonight. He's been struggling with this infection in his eye. It's now gone to both eyes." (Via WHDH)

The Post reached out to NBC for confirmation, and the network insisted the rumor isn't true.

Getting pink eye from a Botox injection is pretty rare. A plastic surgeon told Page Six, unless the procedure is done improperly, it's very unlikely for a patient to contract the infection.

And after researching Botox risks through Mayo Clinic and other resourches, we didn't find any mention of pink eye as a possible complication.

So, we're skeptical. Page Six already made headlines this week for a questionable story.

The Post claimed "Spider-Man" actor Andrew Garfield threw a fit over the script for a planned Oscars segment with Batkid, the famous 5-year-old cancer survivor. (Via Page Six)

But reps for the Academy later confirmed to Variety that the segment was scrapped because of "logistics" and not because of Garfield.

Back to Costas, he has not yet commented on Page Six's story.
