Mich. Woman Found Frozen, Mummified In Her Own Car

A contractor in Pontiac, Mich., made a grim discovery Wednesday in what investigators are calling a story straight out of a Stephen King novel.

The contractor made the discovery Wednesday night while working on the woman's foreclosed home. Local authorities said the woman's body was frozen and her organs were preserved.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the woman could've been dead since 2008, the same year her license plate expired. Her neighbors told reporters they hadn't seen or heard from her in years but knew she traveled frequently.

As authorities have looked into the woman's death, they've learned that she lived alone, was reclusive and had no close family or friends.

The Detroit News reports her bank account had automatic withdrawals for bill payments, but her house went into foreclosure when those payments stopped.

An autopsy report showed no signs of trauma but the cause of death hasn't been determined. Authorities aren't releasing the woman's name until her next of kin is notified.A contractor in Pontiac, Mich., made a grim discovery Wednesday in what investigators are calling a story straight out of a Stephen King novel.
