Teen pageant queen missing from home in Neb.

A 16-year-old Nebraska beauty queen has been missing since Sunday, and her family is getting desperate.

'The family of Michaela Wells says she took out the trash Sunday night. She has not been seen since. Her parents waited until Monday to report her missing because they say they were hoping she was just hanging out with her friends or her boyfriend,' HLN reported.

WOWT reports police don't believe the girl from Bellevue, just outside Omaha, is in any danger at this point.

Wells' mother, Theresa Norris, told KETV she just wants her daughter back.

'My best hope is that, you know, she's with friends, and she's going to walk through my door safe.'

Norris says she's not sure why her daughter is missing, but she gave KPTM at least one possible explanation.

'Maybe she, you know, went and realized she forgot to tell us, and now she's in trouble. She's going to get grounded again for a month.'

Norris also says this isn't something she would expect her daughter to do and added that Wells left without her phone.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Michaela Wells' whereabouts to call the Bellevue, Nebraska police department.
