Teen pageant queen missing from home in Neb.

Teen Pageant Queen Missing from Home in Neb.

A 16-year-old Nebraska beauty queen has been missing since Sunday, and her family is getting desperate.

'The family of Michaela Wells says she took out the trash Sunday night. She has not been seen since. Her parents waited until Monday to report her missing because they say they were hoping she was just hanging out with her friends or her boyfriend,' HLN reported.

WOWT reports police don't believe the girl from Bellevue, just outside Omaha, is in any danger at this point.

Wells' mother, Theresa Norris, told KETV she just wants her daughter back.

'My best hope is that, you know, she's with friends, and she's going to walk through my door safe.'

Norris says she's not sure why her daughter is missing, but she gave KPTM at least one possible explanation.

'Maybe she, you know, went and realized she forgot to tell us, and now she's in trouble. She's going to get grounded again for a month.'

Norris also says this isn't something she would expect her daughter to do and added that Wells left without her phone.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Michaela Wells' whereabouts to call the Bellevue, Nebraska police department.

This is very sad indeed - and what parent "grounds" their child for one month - very extreme - communication and talking things out are the best. Also, all persons are at risk for abduction but especially a high-profile winner - the indifference of her parents and authorities are very shocking. When younger, our high school queen was abducted by a motorcycle gang, gang raped, slashed, and left for dead in the forest hills nearby our city. She crawled out alive after three days, her story is one of amazing survival. And the entire city was looking for her within hours of her disappearance. This is shocking apathy!

You see now that she has been found, what you thought was indifference was knowledge. They knew more about what what had happened than you when you jumped to that conclusion. The only thing shocking is people that presume to know more about a case than the people involved just by reading a news article.

Took out the garbage? Went missing? Parents did not report it immediately? check out the entire family, sounds totally fishy.............Everyone knows by now that you report your kid missing immediately even if your not sure what's up. Immeddiately if not somethings up.

I smell a coverup here. Setting up alibis before calling for help. Acting like nothing was wrong. Something is definitely wrong here.

Something does not add up. The parents' "explanations" seem, at best. specious.

This article is a warning for kids out there today! Next time your parents tell you to take out the garbage, don't do it! This article proves they are hoping you wander off and never see you again! Tell them to take out the garbage themselves while you stay in front of the TV, playing Nintendo, where you will be safe. (P.S. of course I am kidding.)

Sounds a little fishy to me. No way would I wait till the next day to report my daughter missing. Someone could have snatched her. There must be more to this story.

Friends? A parent doesn't know a child's friends, so much so that she THINKS that's where her daughter is? This sounds scary. Anyhow, I hope she comes home for her sake.

She might know the friends, who could by lying about where the girl is. However, one would think that the parents of such friends would notice an extra person in the house.

My prayer is that this child will found safe and unharmed. I would be worried to death if my daughter did not come home. My heart and prayers go out top these parents, I cannot imagine the pain they are experiencing.
