Film star Sean Connery urges Scots to leave UK

Sean Connery
LONDON (AP) - Film star Sean Connery is urging fellow Scots to vote for independence when a referendum is held in September.

The longtime independence advocate says in The Sun on Sunday newspaper that the opportunity to separate from the rest of Britain is too good an opportunity to miss.

He says independence would galvanize the film and creative industries, creating new jobs in Scotland.

Connery no longer lives there and said the decision should be made by the people who choose to live and work in Scotland.

He said a vote for independence would bring renewed focus on Scottish culture, heritage and creative excellence.

His view is not shared by rock star David Bowie, who has urged Scottish voters to remain part of the United Kingdom.

And they should be an independent nation state. Long ago the Plantagenet Kings of England over ran the Scots repeatedly until they could no longer muster a good fighting force. The English were overbearing snots. Freedom that William Wallace never saw would be nice.

It is all about economics and if the numbers work, I say independence for Scotland and Ireland. And, how about one more James Bond movie?

Talk about enough to make a man schizophrenic...lol.

Ethnically, I'm a "Heinz-57."

Coursing through my circulatory system, you'll find Irish, English, Scottish, German and Czech corpuscles.

Decisions...decisions...

What's a better picture of Sean Connery? From Dr. No? He looks like he's old. Not that I doubt Mr. Bowie's sincerity, but I would agree with Mr. Connery on all points, including the decision be made by Scotland's occupants. I would like to know why Bowie feels they should remain. Protection? That does make sense. Oh well, Imma go drink a beer and watch NASCAR...God bless A-mer-ica....
