The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will bring Prince George on their Australian tour, the palace confirms. There are 48 scheduled engagements for the couple, and we can expect to see little George about a half-dozen times! The family-friendly tour is 19 days long, running from April 7th-25th, and allows the new parents enough time to spend with their son every day. George will spend most of his time with a new nanny, but William and Kate will only be away from him for two nights.

George will be eight months old on his first tour, arriving in Australia on Monday April 7th. The family travels with an entourage of 11 people - including a nanny for George and hairdresser for Kate. The Duchess will not be bringing a dresser along - as some expected she might need, considering how many outfits she is expected to have. When Princess Diana visited Australia years ago with Prince William (aged 9 months!) it's reported that her wardrobe that came with her weighed around three tons. (No, not kidding you here.)

According to the itinerary Kensington Palace has released of their tour (which you can see here on contributor WhatKateWore's comprehensive story!) there are no black tie/tiara events planned, but we're sure Kate will sport some impressive jewels at state events. Aides have said the couple are hugely looking forward to their tour -- and when they're going to go for a white water rafting ride in Queenstown, New Zealand one day and later race each other in yachts across Auckland Harbor -- we can imagine why!

Royal photographer Mark Stewart tells contributor WhatKateWore that the press are already calling this the "George Tour," because it's the first time William and Kate will really show him off. His parents are comfortingly protective of the little Prince, and have allowed him to grow away from the public eye. We know we're not alone, however, in our excitement to see the little Prince at his first "official engagements." His first big moment? Other than getting on and off the planes as the family travels, it's possible George will attend a parents & babies engagement in New Zealand on April 9th.

William and Kate have asked the Queen for special permission to have George fly with them throughout the trip -- as two heirs are typically not allowed to travel together. Kate is reportedly still working on her wardrobe for the trip, but we expect she'll wear many Australian and New Zealand brands to show support while there.
