Stars Roma Downy and Diogo Morgado on Tackling the Life of Jesus
Roma Downey and Diogo Morgado sit down with Brian Balthazar and delve into the making of their new feature film, "Son of God," based on the extraordinary tales of The New Testament.

"It's a big responsibility," admits Morgado, who takes on on the iconic role of Jesus. "It's one of the biggest. The truth is we need to understand that it's not a role, it's someone that is pretty much alive in the hearts of billions around the world - in my heart."

Downy (playing The Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus) reveals that she relates to her co-stars connection to the film's title character. She even describes feeling the presence of spirit on set. "We had a guy who's job it was to clear snakes and scorpions off the set. Maybe on each given day there were one or two snakes. But, the day that we were shooting the crucifixion sequence, he cleared over forty snakes from around the foot of the cross. It just felt like there had been an extraordinary clearing."

Extraordinary, indeed. "Son of God" is in theaters now.

I loved the movie Son of God. Both Roma and Diogo were excellent in their respective roles. I predict Son of God will be one of the biggest movies in over a decade. It definitely will be a big blockbuster hit.

Saw the movie. Loved it. Many scenes very hard to watch. Casting outstanding.

The truly sad thing about this movie and any depiction of the life of Jesus, is that unfortunately, far too many people see it as a good 'story' vs what its' telling is meant to deliver. Another fact is that judging from some of these comments, the telling of His life obviously didn't get its' point across: such hostility, when the whole point of it was/is the unlimited love of our Savior. His last and greatest commandment is to love each other even as he loves us.

His liufe was as an example. Some follow good examples. Some do not. Many did.

Hostility from the remarks here, or are you referencing the time in which Christ lived. If you were referencing the time in which Christ lived, yes, there was a lot of hostility. Then again, we live in a very hostile environment all around us (throughout the world!).

Don't you love that people have made up their minds about the movie BEFORE they see it? I do not believe the movie purports to be an exact translation of the Bible. Yes, it is an interpretation. However, it will cause discussion and will lead people to re=assess their lives--hopefully in a positive way. All the people who are criticizing the cost to make the movie and the casting are grasping at straws. Everyone knows that making movies is expensive. Promoting one's movie is like an author having a book signing or a web site encouraging fans to attend a concert etc.

I just came back from seeing the movie, It was beautifully done, and heartbreaking to witness, again, how brutally Jesus was treated during his final days. Thanks to the directors, and the man who did such a fine job in the lead. Doesn't 'Joanne' have any more intelligence, or respect than to make such a foolish and stupid remark ?

you're either for Him or against Him, leave it up to every individual whether they want to see the movie or not, the spirit within us is always there, true that all is done because of money and we as followers can see through it or beyond it , after all it is just a movie but the message is beyond what is before our eyes, He is always present in those that believe---

Great movie if your heart and mind is open to God speaking to you. Remember, the movie is a dramatization of Factual events. This means some parts may not be completely accurate to scripture. I thought the movie was well done. The Bible says: 1 Corinthians 1:18 " The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing." It would be foolishness to me too if I had not come to saving Faith several years ago.
