Carlos Moncrief becomes household name with 'kitchen catch'

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - A catch in the kitchen has made Carlos Moncrief a household name.

The Cleveland minor leaguer has drawn all sorts of attention after a nifty set of pictures from a spring training game against Cincinnati.

The photos Wednesday showed Moncrief's catch on a fly ball by Kristopher Negron at Goodyear Ballpark. An outfield billboard for a homebuilding company in the background makes it appear Moncrief is running into the kitchen.

Moncrief had the picture on his cell phone Thursday.

"I loved it," he said.

"My wife saw it live and said, 'good catch,'" he said. "And she never comments on baseball. But she's the master of the kitchen at home. I may go in there and wash dishes once in a while if I'm feeling good."

Associated Press photographer Paul Sancya caught the grab.

"As soon as I saw it, I was like, 'please be in focus,'" he said.

Sorry but household name???? I don't think so, unless you are a baseball fan you still don't know who this guy is and he will be forgotten as soon as the non-fan clicks off this article.

Easy to do, if you have the needed equipment, but WELL DONE! ChromaKey has been around for some time. You 'punch a hole' in the player with a green (or blue) screen. You then FILL the hole with the kitchen scene.

Hi Meg March 01 2014 at 3:02 AM

I wanted to thank you and your family for serving this great nation( well maybe not the last 8 years) but thank you again very much! I have many of my family have either retiered out as my Grandfather who was an admiral in the navy at the Glenview Naval base in Chiago IL. I have two cousins over seas and aren't privy to there where about which i think is one of the hardest things to deal with. I could make a short story of all the members of my family, but I won't bore you.
Thanks again and I wish you and you family the best.
