Whale slaps girl in the face

WATCH: Massive Whale Slaps Girl In The Face

Whale watching might seem like a harmless adventure on the water, but for one group of tourists in Mexico it was a completely different story.

A boat carrying students off the coast of Baja California got up close and personal over the weekend when a whale swam underneath, flipped its tail out of the water and smacked an unsuspecting girl right in the face!

Ouch! The incident was caught on a cell phone camera and uploaded to YouTube. The girl who got the whale tale whack was identified as Chelsea Crawford from Nova Scotia.

Luckily, she's alright, but we expect she'll do her whale watching from the shore from now on.

Mexican tour guides have no regard for safety of sea life or people and deliberately harass and run boats up to and into whales and dolphins to give tourist a live expierence. Since all an operator needs is a boat, it is a very competitive business with little regulation.

What do expect when you go into the whale's home unannounced? But she now has a whale of a tale to tell.

The boats should never get that close to the whales, its fine if the whales come to you but boats should never be chasing them as it looks by this video. There are regulations here in Hawaii, too bad they dont have the same in Mexico
