Robin Thicke and Paula Patton are calling it quits

NEW YORK (AP) - Robin Thicke and Paula Patton are calling it quits.

A representative for the actress confirmed Monday that she and the singer are ending their nine-year marriage.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the entertainers said in a joint statement.

Thicke, 36, and Patton, 38, met when they were teenagers. They had a son, Julian Fuego Thicke, in 2010.

Robin Thicke had a breakthrough last year with the international hit "Blurred Lines," which was nominated for several Grammy Awards. Patton has appeared in the films "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," ''Idlewild," and "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire."

Patton also appeared in Thicke's music videos, including "Lost Without U" and "Love After War." She was the inspiration behind most of his music, and she appeared on the cover of his 2003 debut, "A Beautiful World."

Their separation was first reported on People magazine's website.

Sad, they look meant for each other and I predict misery for both of them without each other...

What's even more sad is your comment. As if you know anything about these people but are probably someone who sits at home and acts like they're friends with the stars... MENTAL ILLNESS.

Sad to hear that, just like any marriage that ends. In my opinion, I think Robin Thicke just got too popular. That added distraction would be difficult for any marriage. They had been together for so long, both seem like good people, hope they can work things out.

That is sad. They can put on a good & loving act that all is well. If they're so close & friends why are they letting their careers drive them apart? Things have obviously gotten better for both of them. Why not leave things the way they are & remain friends & stay married? One or the other COULD have friends w/benefits & need to carry on.
Come on "carmmed_splatt, u have obviously got to be a guy. Why is always the woman "giving it up". If she needs "multipule guys", why ain't she getting it from him? Maybe it was the guy. U turdhead, think before u speak. And don't give me that, "he ain't getting it at home so he's got to get it elsewhere". What about the woman getting her some.
