We've yet another sign that Walt Disney and Marvel Studios have another hit on their hands in Guardians of the Galaxy, Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in the following video.

Early reaction to the first trailer for the film, which debuted Tuesday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, has been impressive. More than 3.9 million tuned in within the first 24 hours. Nearly 7.3 million have tuned in as of this writing. And more than a half-million have watched Marvel's 30-second profile of Rocket, a gun-toting, talking raccoon who director James Gunn says is "the heart of the movie, in a lot of ways." For context, Sony's sizzle reel for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 -- released during the Super Bowl -- has garnered about 3.6 million views.

That's not to say Guardians of the Galaxy is destined to be more popular than Spider-Man, especially since the initial trailer for Spidey's latest adventure has amassed more than 26 million views over the past two months. Rather, Tim says initial enthusiasm for the Guardians trailer suggests that Marvel Studios set just the right tone while introducing a largely unknown cast of characters. Investors can breathe a little easier as a result.

After all, Disney likely paid at least $150 million to produce Guardians, with plenty more spending to come as Marvel markets the film to moviegoers. Right now, that looks like capital well spent.

Now it's your turn to weigh in. Are you more or less interested in Guardians of the Galaxy after having seen the trailer?  Please watch the video to get Tim's full take and then leave a comment to let us know where you stand and whether you would buy, sell, or short Disney stock at current prices.
