U.S. Accidentally Drops Bomb On Own Base

U.S. Accidentally Drops Bomb On Own Base

A YouTube video showing the U.S. accidentally bombing its own base has recently come to light.

The incident, which took place in September 2012, shows a 500-lb. bomb, which was intended for a group of Taliban fighters, instead detonating close to the US base that launched it.

"This was a major mistake ...,' a retired Air Force colonel told CNN. "The way targeting works is, you have to get the coordinates right."

According to CNN, an investigation has determined the air crew had the wrong coordinates.

'Unfortunately in wars, this does happen," the Air Marshall added.

The "major mistake" is unfortunately brewing some bad press for the U.S. Air Force. Headlines are calling the footage "shocking" and "horrifying."

Ultimately, the incident was ruled a pure accident and no one was charged over it.

to Vietnam is this, death was clearly a central & profound experience for those who fought in Nam. Reactions to the death of others & the potential of being killed seem to represent many pre-service life happenings & circumstances. In the wars aftermath of bitterness on the one hand & official unconcern on the other, us vets clearly do not relish being blamed for "losing" the kind of war Vietnam was. In my eyes we as veterans are the sick type ultimately separated from the conditions that produced us.

LOL. Shocking and Horrifying? Major Mistake! LMAO! Like it's not something that hasn't happened hundreds of times? Probably thousands, if the truth were known about every individual small arms incident of what is laughingly called Friendly Fire!
In the Military we called it SNAFU!
This only goes to show that since the Liberal media won't say a word about their Messiah, Barrack Husein, and his continuation of this farce in the Mid-East, they have to pick on the military!
Go ahead, CNN, forget about the fact that the Commander In Chief is ultimately responsible, because he hasn't ended the farce. Hell, Nixon did more to stop that war, but Obama? He gets a pass on everything. SNAFU Baby!

Ok folks go get your calculators, I will wait... Now go add up the numbers of FRIENDLY fire incidence to our VIETNAM VETERANS and see what numbers come up on your calculator. OH; it STOPPED because to MANY numbers were put in and it could not CALCULATE that many numbers so it STOPPED. WE Nam Vet had these sorts of things happen ALL the time. Bombs dropped on us, artillery rounds landing on us or too close and most important accidental shootings and injuries, MORTORS, M16, SHOTGUNS, and AK47’s. Yes war is HELL, but accidents happen all the time. How do I know this I WAS THERE, Oct 1967 to Oct1968, and by GODS grace I am here today? Many of our BROTHERS are still there and those that did come home (like me) at times are still there. My point is that 'Unfortunately in war, this does happen,"

SO news MEDIA get the HELL out of our BUSNESS and let the MILITARY do their jobs. NO need to blame the USAF, NAVY, ARMY or MARINES it’s just too bad this
happened at this time when all those IDIOTS are trying to BLAME someone. AS usual WASHINGTON has this idea that someone has to pay for what happened and THEY will find someone even if THEY to MAKE it ALL up. Remember WASHING TON has to look pretty and nice ALL the time. GOD Bless AMERICA and all of our TROOPS.

Now apologize for bombing Dresden Germany and the other 50 plus cities that you burned to the ground while melting innocent civilians in the pavement and having the eyeballs melt out of their heads.

No, No, No! All we have to apologize for is nuking the Japs! All those other people, well first they were white and Christian, so who cares? Second, it don't matter because we dropped thousands of incendiary bombs on those places, so it's no where near as horrific as killing way less people, and destroying way less real estate--that was made mostly out of wood and paper--because that was done with just two bombs.
Finally, there are no morons talking completely out of their hats about how Japan really was ready to surrender, despite all of the evidence to the contrary.
Dresden: One of the biggest war crimes, and cases of mass murder in world history. No military, or tragic value as a target whatsoever, and we incinerated it!
Too bad they didn't have better PR I guess!
