Pictures posted by Funeral Honor Guard member spark outrage

Pictures Posted by Funeral Honor Guard Member Creates Outrage

It's supposed to be a Wisconsin National Guard tradition, but what was caught on camera is now causing an internet firestorm and has led to a military investigation.

The Wisconsin National Guard has been part of Wisconsin's Funeral Honor Guard for decades, but two pictures posted to social media by a Milwaukee member of the honor guard are sparking outrage.

WISN 12 News isn't identifying the soldier in the pictures because she said she's been receiving death threats after they went viral.

The Wisconsin National Guard confirmed to WISN 12 News it is launching an investigation into her social media account.

The first photo under scrutiny shows her with a folded flag in the background with the caption, "It's so damn cold out. Why have a funeral outside? Somebody's getting a jacked up flag."

The second is from her recent graduation of training for honors at funerals.

WISN 12 News has learned the casket shown in the photo was empty, but some online are upset at the caption at the bottom saying, "We put the 'fun' in funeral."

A spokesman for the Wisconsin National Guard confirmed for WISN 12 News that the woman is a member in Milwaukee.

WISN 12 News reporter Christina Palladino reached the specialist by phone Monday evening. She told Palladino she was contacted by the National Guard Monday, but she would not comment any further on the photo controversy.

The guard released a statement to WISN 12 News saying in part, "The Wisconsin National Guard takes our responsibilities for our fallen soldiers and veterans very seriously. We expect all soldiers who carry out this detail to handle it with professionalism and honor."

This group is a clear example of a lack of honor, and I don't mean just military.Human beings and yes they are part of that group, have a sense of honor and dignity. This young woman and her little group of miscreants are in my eyes the lowest of the lowest form of life on the planet. Ft Levenworth isn't worth their ilk, but I am sure a FOB in Afghanistan could make use of them. Actually they need to be put out of the military with loss of benefits and no not on a general under honorable conditions...see there's that whole thing of honor again.

Not only Dishonorable, her conduct is also disgusting. She show no respect for the departed veteran or ceremony she has volunteered for. She should be reprimanded and dismissed from the service. Commander of American Legion post 262 in Ca.

This is an embarrassment to the service. Those kids have no business in the military. As a former member of the Honor Guard in Ft Knox. The hardest thing is not to make eye contact to avoid seen and feeling their pain. Nothing is to interfere with the professionalism we display. If this "Soldiers" have no sense of pride, they should be discharged and find a job more suited to their needs.

This young woman is very immature and not worthy of her assignement or even being allowed to serve in the US Military. That being said, those who threaten her and send death threats are not qualified to be considered Americans.

Think she needs reassignment duty for sure . Something a little less sensitive. Maybe KP duty and about 1500lbs of potatoesand the smallest peeler they can find for her . It just continues to amaze me how many poeple just do stupid stuff in front of an IPhone . It's not " big brother watching over our shoulder we have to worry about . It's ourselves we have to worry about .

It is a great privilege to be among those who are members of Honor Guards giving Final Honors to active military and those who previously served to their final rest. This soldier needs to be removed from this Honor Guard. We served in the coldest weather to the hottest weather. It is the least we can do when on an Honor Squad to do so in whatever kind of weather it is. If you can bury someone in a particular kind of weather, you can honor the deceased in that kind of weather. If anything, you should be glad that you are still alive.

Plain and simple, she is a disgrace to the US Armed Forces and should be sent directly to Afghanistan where the Brave real soldiers are so she can see what the real military is all about.

Then she could hope she makes it back or wonder if she doesn’t, is there some ******* going to make jokes about her being a fallen soldier.

DON’T DISCIPLINE HER SEND HER DIRECTLY TO AFGANISTAN!!
