Meet One of the Youngest Geniuses in the World

This little girl may only be three years old, but she's probably smarter than pretty much anyone you know.

Alexis Martin is one of the youngest geniuses in the world. She's already a member of Mensa -- the genius society –- and currently stands as the youngest person in the Arizona Mensa chapter.

Tests show her I.Q. is above 160, whereas the average person's I.Q. is 100.

Her parents found out how crazy smart she was at an early age: 'From 12 to 18 months or so, we'd be driving around in the car and she would recite her bedtime story from the night before. We are talking 20 to 25 page books, and she would recite them from the night before. But not just recite them, recite them exactly,' her dad explained.

Alexis did so well on her I.Q. test that the doctors couldn't even calculate it.

And get this: not only does this toddler read at a fifth grade level, but she also taught herself to speak Spanish using an adult app on her parent's iPad.

A look at more Mensa members:

I wished they hadn't just talked about how smart she was, but actually shown it....It would've been interesting to hear her speak Spanish fluently, or recite an entire bedtime story word for word, or any other indicator of above-average intelligence. ..or at least they could've asked the child a question or two.

No doubt many will feel threatened by her abilities and make disparaging comments about her. Unfortunately American culture doesn't honor or encourage intellect and this is especially true in women. It runs contrary to the creation of emotionally driven consumers and voters. I hope this girl's abilities will be fostered and encouraged and she will make a great contribution to society.

Big deal, I fired more people with a PHD than any other class of people over my 31 year Software Marketing career. Why, they believed they were above the other employee's based strictly on intelligence. That said, we groomed our sons not to use their degrees as stepping stones, but to put in the grunt work, and gain the respect of peers, which in turn leads to quicker promotions.

Sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. Just because someone has a PHD doesn't make them any smarter than anyone else, it just makes them look smarter. I'm guessing your sons weren't members of a fraternity either. There are a lot of people who even cheat their way to a PHD and most of those are members of fraternities that help elevate their brothers in the good ole boys club. You let your true motive show when you said "they believed they were above the other employee's based strictly on intelligence". You fired them not because of their abilities but because of their attitude of being better than others. You need to lose YOUR attitude in order to really grow as a beneficial member of society. I never got a degree yet over the years I've seen people in management who got their supervisory positions simply because they had a degree. A lot of them have no common sense and no sense of social equity - book smart and street stupid. They don't deserve the position yet they are entitled to it simply because they have a bachelors degree or higher. That's wrong, but that doesn't make it right to fire someone simply because they have a superiority complex. The world has changed in the last 50 years and never again will there be a policy where the person best deserving it gets the job. My father had an 8th grade education and started working in a small factory when he was 20 years old, became plant supervisor and after holding that position for many years rose to president of the company. That will rarely ever happen again in our time or in the future. Small businesses are on their way out and big business will ONLY hire college graduates for management positions. Why? Because the boards of directors of corporate America know that college educated management has been indoctrinated to their satisfaction and will do exactly what is expected of them.

Most geniuses are happy when people just leave them alone to be who they want to be and they are happiest when they are allowed to gather as much information as they want whenever they want. To them happiness is being a sponge.

LOL, raydar, you beat me to the punch:-D

I have to agree with you, and only add that Sheldon would definitely see this sweet brilliant girl as a threat to his ego ;-) She should make an appearance on Big Bang and spar with our Sheldon--that would be comedy gold right there.

As a parent I can share the joy the parents feel to have such a gifted kid. May this kid become great at what ever she decide to become. Also may she become wise to the things she cannot learn in school such as the universe is not the shape of the map of the US, we are a part of a hugh universe that God made. I pray she will learn to be humble and that she or her parents had anything to do with her great ability, it's her Creator !!!!! Give all credit to Him.

Hopefully the little girl will have enough common-sense along with her reciting ability to realize that it's looking like all religions are totally bogus. Every new archeological expedition finds things which further prove the science of natural selection. So let's hope that the 'Eve ate the apple because the devil told her to -- so because she ate the apple she gave all future women menopause' crap will be forever buried.
