Cop's rookie mistake caught on tape

Caught-on-Video: Cop Makes Rookie Mistake

A man was pulled over for going around a safety bar warning of an approaching train, but as "Fox & Friends" reports, he was let off with a warning because of the police officer's rookie mistake.

Apparently the officer's car slipped out of gear and rolled right into the truck.

The video was posted to LiveLeak on February 16th and already has more than 200,000 views. You can see officers checking whether there's any damage to the truck, too.

The damage seemed to be minimal, and the officer let the man off with a warning. While we're sure the cop's ego is a little bruised, we hope he takes this tip from Police Magazine:

'Mistakes will be made. Mistakes should be made. ... You need to accept mistakes, learn from them, and move on.'

No word on who the officer is or where the incident took place.

"Slipped out of gear?" Exactly how could that be? If it slipped out of park it would have went backwards. So he had to have left it in neutral and it slipped into drive? Something don't add up at all. I've never seen a car with a shifter so worn out that it changes gears on it's own.
I'm thinking he jumped out all gung ho and left it in drive. Period.

"...going around a safety bar warning of an approaching train." Why did the cop get involved? He simply delayed the natural selection process. You just can't fix stupid. The truck driver will do it again and probably wind up in another county by the time the train stops.

I had been in an accident a few years back.now fall/slippery conditions my truck ended up off the road and wedged in between a bunch of trees. minimal damage to the truck , i was un injured but had to climb out the passengers side window due to not being able to open the doors( wedged in trees remember) anyways, i had gotten half way out the window and fell the rest of the way into the snow. the state trooper found it very amusing and broke out laughing at me. once i had gotten up and stumbled through the snow to the side of the road, he came over to write an accident report, took two steps and wiped out on the icey road and slide back about 10 feet. I did my best not to laugh.. i really did...

Certainly not all, but too many Police Officers have a "serious" attitude problem. Most don't even attempt to be polite and think they've a right to come across in a belligerent manner. Letting the gentleman off with a warning is nothing, hopefully he apologized and the department paid, (or pays) this man's insurance deductible.

I was once pulled over for speeding by an officer who mistook my car for another similar car. Before I could tell him he had the wrong guy, he just gave me a quick verbal warning and walked off.
