Report: Julia Roberts' mother hospitalized

Report: Julia Roberts' Mother Hospitalized

According to several reports, the actress' mother, Betty Lou Motes, was hospitalized after Nancy Motes was found dead from an apparent drug overdose Feb. 9.

New York Daily News reports Los Angeles County Coroner officials confirmed the 79-year-old was in the hospital.

It's unclear what she is being treated for or how long she has been there.

But the Daily Mail points out Betty Lou did look "frail and visibly shaken" when she went to visit Roberts Tuesday - just two days after Nancy's death.

According to a statement released by Motes' family, the 37-year-old was found dead in a bathtub at a Los Angeles home where she was pet-sitting.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's office says both prescription and nonprescription drugs were found at the scene, but they haven't said for sure if drugs played a role in Nancy's death.

Also found at the scene - a lengthy suicide note. The coroner's office confirmed to Us Weekly that news to Us Weekly but wouldn't go into detail about the contents.

But a source told the New York Daily News the letter was a rant from Nancy about how Julia Roberts was the driving force behind her possible suicide.

An autopsy was scheduled for the day after her body was found, but it could take as long as 10 weeks for the cause of death to be determined. Roberts has yet to comment on the situation.

My prayers go out to the family. Mother has a lot to deal with. It is no one fault but the person who commits suicide, we are a society of educated people that would have helped her deal with life. She choose the wrong direction, not her family.

Why do they bring up Julia and not Eric or little sisiter , Lisa Roberts Gillan, they all act, they all had this woman as a half sister, so why does the article only mention Julia.

She's not the first person to blame her miserable existance on a succesful family memeber, if you want better than do better.

Absolutely amazing. Kill yourself..................blame someone else. Too much drama here and also it is a private family matter. Why should we even be told this stuff?

I won't speculate as to what was or what wasn't in the letter. I will say two things, first, I doubt that Julia didn't offer any help. Second, in no way, shape, or fashion was Julia Roberts EVER obligated to help her sister. Just because she became a success she does not owe anyone anything. Her sister was an adult and made her own choices. Case closed.

I didn't even know she had a half sister, but I think she most certainly should have help her sister live a comfortable life. For all I know she did.

I am so very sorry for Julia and her family, I have always admired her and her movies. She and her brother Eric have given the world some of the best acting I have ever seen.

how silly to blame julia for sisters suicide. Suicide IS A selfish act and a total cop out from life. I hope julia and her family find a way to heal. Kids are mean to eachtother all the time and it doesnt cause suicide. Whatever hell that nancy was going thru was only controllable by her and the professional help she should have sought

Tragic. Drug addicted, mentally ill little sister bullied her successful big sister with nasty "tweets" etc. for years and then blamed sis for her suicide. I hope Julia and her mother can understand how very ill Nancy was and forgive her.
