Tribute planned for Boston Marathon bomb victims

2013 ING New York City Marathon
BOSTON (AP) - The organizers of the Boston Marathon have announced plans for a tribute on the anniversary of the finish line bombings that killed three people and injured more than 260.

The Boston Athletic Association said Thursday the tribute to victims, survivors and first responders will be held April 15 at the Hynes Convention Center.

The tribute will be hosted jointly by Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and Gov. Deval Patrick in coordination with One Fund Boston, the charity set up to help victims.

The event will feature speakers representing families of those affected, medical staff who treated patients, responding government agencies and civic leaders. It will conclude with a flag-raising ceremony and brief moment of silence.

This year's race is scheduled for April 21.

Would it be too much to ask that the Huff post put a picture of the BOSTON FINISH LINE NOT THE NYC MARATHON FINISH LINE. This is annoying in it's carelessness. It is not like there isn't plenty of file photos of Boston for goodness sake.

can only wonder if this bombing took place in arizona, whether there would be any tribute, me thinks not, only liberal cities qualify for tributes and the liberal medias coverage, pretty pathetic

I guess this just does not compare to what happened to Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and some of her constituants at that event where some were killed and others were seriously injured. Nah, the rest of the country never heard about that.

It is the Boston marathon. Your picture is the New York Marathon finish. They are not the same. Would run Boston, but not New York.
