Footprints in snow lead police right to suspect

We imagine you're probably sick of the snow at this point, but turns out it can actually be a great crime fighting tool.

'Footprints lead to an arrest in Michigan. Police were investigating a home break in and noticed the prints leading to a neighbors house,' 'Fox & Friends' said.

According to The Macomb Daily, the resident returned home to find the window of his back door broken. Several items were missing, including prescription drugs, cash and jewelry.

Police followed footprints in the snow from the victim's house to the front porch of the suspect's house. When they arrived, no one was home.

Police continued to survey the scene. That's when the 29-year-old suspect showed up, wearing Nike tennis shoes that matched the footprints in the snow. WJBK called the suspect 'careless.'

The situation is similar to a case out of Louisville, Kentucky earlier this month. Footprints led police to two suspects they believe to be responsible for three different burglaries.

Police in Michigan also found items in the suspect's home that were connected to other recent burglaries in the neighborhood. The 29-year-old suspect is in custody facing charges related to the burglaries.
