1 dead, at least 4 injured in NYC bus-truck crash

NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say one person was killed and two people were critically injured when a New York City bus and a truck collided in Manhattan, then barreled into scaffolding and a building.

Fire officials say at least two other people suffered minor injuries in the crash, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwich (GREN'-ich) Village.

Police say there were two passengers on the bus. They suffered minor injuries.

Police say the truck driver, who also suffered minor injuries, was being questioned at the hospital.

The injured were taken to Beth Israel Hospital.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash.

TV reports show that the collision sent both vehicles onto the sidewalk, into scaffolding that collapsed and into a building at 14th Street and 7th Avenue. Streets in the vicinity were closed to traffic.

I have heard rumors, that have not been confirmed, that the truck was stolen and the police was chasing it. Anyone have anything more solid?

If true, that truck driver may be up on manslaughter or murder charges.

What the hell is happening? Over the past 3 years several busses have crashed, a few of which were sliced in half. If it's not a bus crash, it's an MTA subway derailment, or a train in Connecticut stalling out, or collapsed wires, etc.

So far, since this past August, there have been several bus accidents, train accidents in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. This would make it #14 or15 of the NTSB(National Transportation Safety Board's) investigation. The NTSB just can't get a break from the Tri-State area of NY., can it?

Someone lost their life this morning and others are injured. This was an accident people, they happen, and that's why they are called accidents. Instead of trying to point blame at someone at this point, let's just say a prayer for all concerned and stop the arm chair judgement. Find something to do today that might help another person have a better day.

How does an article summating a bus crash that resulted in a death and multiple injuries lead to an argument about who can or can't drive? Come on people can't we all just get along? Death, accidents, injuries happen within all nationalities, races, countries, lands, and cities... Just be thankful it's not you or a loved one. Stop arguing and spread love...
My prayers and thoughts to the familes of the injured and the one who lost his/ her life...

Typical Huff post - only 1/2 the story- "1 dead, at least 4 injured in NYC bus-truck crash" OK who died? were they the bus driver, a person on the street, in the store, on the schaffolding? I am so sick and tired of these leading headlines that say one thing and report another

Hey Patriot - FYI ... With the mass population that NYC has the tremendous amount of people on the road and excessive gridlock and traffic, etc. It's a miracle that we only have as few accidents as we do. So here's what I have to say to you. "Hush your mouth Lillypad! If you don't like New York, then don't come here"!
