Yuki Tsubota Crashes During Women's Slopestyle Skiing Final, Stretched Off Course

KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) - Women's slopestyle skier Yuki Tsubota of Canada was taken off the course following a scary crash at the end of her second run in the finals.

Tsubota was attempting to land the third of three jumps at the end of the challenging and slushy course Tuesday when she crashed into the crest of the landing zone. The 20-year-old Tsubota slid down the hill while her skis scattered.

She laid still for several minutes while being treated by a medical team before being carried off the course. A Canadian team official said Tsubota is being examined for a possible fractured jaw.

Tsubota finished sixth with a score of 71.60 during her first run at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park. Teammate Dara Howell won gold.

Shouldn't the word be 'Stretchered' not stretched? Maybe if she properly stretched she wouldn't have needed to be stretchered.

I understand she has recovered from a previous accident on a slope. I am astounded at how they can navigate down those slopes so fast. To do it with a previous injury in the back of her mind has to take courage.

Don't you just love HP's proofreading.
The title on the storyboard said "stretched"
not stretchered.

Maybe it was the "Gumby Medics" and HP was correct. One never knows about those things.

Unfortunately, the less than ideal conditions of the snow (slopestyle, half-pipe, etc.) are contributing to a rash of accidents due to the unfavorable state of the venues. P.S. folks- Sochi is actually a temperate/sub tropical locale, and even with mountains nearby, is a very dicey affair for snow activities. In sum, probably NOT the best selection for an Olympics. So, how did they get them?(Wink! to Putin and the Oligarchs that bought them.)
