Weekend tech maintenance to affect HealthCare.gov

Poll Health Overhaul

WASHINGTON (AP) - This time, they're giving you notice.

Some consumers won't be able to finish their online health insurance applications this weekend because Social Security's computer system will be undergoing heavy maintenance. It will not be able to verify Social Security numbers and certain other personal details needed for coverage under President Barack Obama's health care law.

The federal Health and Human Services department said Monday the maintenance will start at 3 p.m. Eastern time Saturday, February 15, and end at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18. Other parts of HealthCare.gov will be functioning.

The 15th of the month is the deadline to apply for coverage to start on the 1st of the following month. Consumers affected should contact the federal call center (800-318-2596) on Tuesday to arrange for coverage March 1.

The decision on how well Obamacare works will come in November. Obama and the Democrats know that. All the good press coverage in the world will not save them . I see the Tea Party hitting the streets in april with recall petitions for Democrats who supported Obamacare.

Don't hope. Get out and register others to vote. Attend meetings as we get closer to the primaries and the general election in November. The Socialist Democrats, who scream "will of the people," are terrified that the true will of the people will remove many of their excuse makers and syncopants from office. VOTE. Simple enough....

Why do you think he keeps delaying everything that bad for him and his kind until after the next election? He and the Dems have been doing the same thing for a few years now. Maybe that is why this mess wasn't to go into effect until after his 2nd annointment.

Just another poorly thought out and poorly implemented disaster by this administration. No one will push back for fear of being called racist.

That's a long down time. I would have to guess 7 or 8 applicants will be delayed.

This site should just go period along with this stupid law. This whole law is just a piece of junk.
It keeps changing and no one can keep up with it.
Do something simple, do not make it mandatory, help business, not hurt them.

The majority of all major IT systems have to go down periodically for updating and maintenance. This includes the big 500 companines, banks, etc.
