McGruff The Crime Dog Actor Sentenced On Drug Charges

McGruff The Crime Dog Actor Sentenced On Drug Charges

John R. Morales, 41, pleaded guilty to drug and weapons charges this week. Morales was sentenced to 16 years and three months in federal prison after authorities found over 1,000 marijuana plants and 27 weapons at a farm he owned back in 2011. Morales was pulled over for speeding when police found clipboards with maps leading them to the drug dens.

Morales played the crime-sniffing dog for the Harris County Sheriff's Association throughout the '90s.

Oh please~16 years for pot? Ridiculous ....pot is no worse than alcohol in it's effects of getting one buzzed. Actually alcohol is worse as an intoxicant and tends to make some people that consume this to go on a rageful and murderous crime spree. Our prisons are full of people on Marajuana charges and some will get more time for that than a person who commits murder!!

What a messed up system we have.

How many years were for the pot and how many for the 27 weapons? I have no idea, do you? However, IMO if he received any jail time for the pot chage, even one day, it was too much. To clarify, I agree with you.

From what I understand, most people smoke their pot at home and are not on the road like drunk drivers. Much more accidents and deaths from drunk drivers than pot drivers. That is a fact and how about people that drive while on high dose pain medications. They are all told not to drive yet they do anyway and for some reason, they are not thrown into jail or hardly ever. To me that is the same as drunk driving. It is told to them by their doctor, pharmacist and also labels on the medication bottle.

Lets send kids to school so they learn how to communicate in the English language. It is a shame to waist--oops--that is the place where you wear your belt unless you are a goofball saggy pants dork--I meant WASTE good money trying to educate kids that do not want to learn. So lem63, unwaste the money they spent trying to teach you how to talk.

16 years from growing Pot? More over the top punishment. He basically got a life sentence and we the tax payers have to foot the bill for a Federal Prison system out of control.

He took a 'bite out of crime' and thought it tasted really good! Crime took a bite out of him and spit him into the can!

The officer making the arrest probably was inspired to by him as a child to become a crime fighter. It seems fate is not without a sense of humor.

Little did the arresting officer know that this actor is hypocritical....Preach one thing and do another....

First, this reporter( Jasmine) is not suppose to dramatize the news with her obvious bias..just report it as you read it..telling us that they found "A LOT" of drugs (weed..is becoming legal in many states ..WHICH IN MY VIEW..IT'S ABOUT TIME) and "A LOT" of weapons in his possession ..almost screaming it into the camera was irritating and unprofessional. Keep this up Jasmine and you will never see "Prime Time News Reporting". One way to end this kind of unprofessional acting out on tv is to legalize pot, tax it and stop putting people in prison for using something that does not have them breaking into homes, store, selling their children into sexual bondage for a joint, emptying the companies bank accounts to support their habit, lead to HIV infection due to sharing needles, drive drunk..as so many people who drink everyday..some all day and drive, ruin and destroy families, put small children at risk and foster care...

Well what do you expect? He "sniffed" out crime. He just "sniffed" the wrong batch & got hooked. Look Brian the dog in family guy had the same problem.
