The best looks from the BCBG Max Azria fall 2014 runway show

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...

New York Fashion Week officially kicked off today, with BCBG Max Azria being one of the first shows to send models down the runway. The ultra-wearable, always chic brand is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year, and all we have to say is that the show was fur-real.

OK but seriously, if BCBG is any indication, the trend du jour is fuzzy fabrics -- and lots of them. Even though the heavy use of shearling, mink, and lambswool may have caused a bit of a stir with some, we can all agree that there are plenty of fashionable faux options out there right now that happen to be affordable too. We can get down with that. Fur funnels (to keep your hands and neck warm!) and coat collars were especially present at the show, and one new thing we noticed (and really liked) was a plethora of mixed materials. We saw fur mixed with leather, wool, and other fabrics on tops and jackets to create a cool, multi-faceted look.

Along with the warm and fuzzy trend, we noticed that everything at BCBG seemed super relaxed. Styles erred on the modest size, with hemlines longer and shapes just a little boxy and oversize. Capes looked almost blanket-like, and the sporty, athletic-inspired look isn't going anywhere either. We especially liked the racing stripes used on some of the skirts and dresses -- perfect for incorporating a little color into an otherwise neutral winter wardrobe.
