Photos & Reactions: The Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show

The Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show was a stunning display of musicianship, energy, and collaboration as Bruno Mars kicked off with an extended drum solo (props to him for that) followed by his hit 'Locked Out of Heaven' and culminating with some shirtless Chili Peppers and an electric crowd. Fun fact: the NFL doesn't pay halftime performers a dime. Playing in front 100 million+ is payment enough it would seem. Check out some photos from the halftime show and scroll through for reactions from sports fans around the world:

I thought Bruno Mars was a cartoon character, or a comic book.

I thought Bruno Mars was great. Not much of a fan of todays music but Bruno Mars kinda reminded me of music from the 70's & 80's. I could have done without the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I cannot disagree w you more. The Chili Peppers are legends. They have been creating great music since the 80's. Bruno Mars is so commercial. He tries to be like performers of the 70's & 80's. Not that he isn't talented but his music is way too pop for my taste. Wow it's really sad that other people are saying the Chili Peppers ruined the performance. That is funny because everyone I talked to that night said they wanted to hear more from them & less Bruno Mars. No offense to him, but wow.

Bruno Mars was great. The only thing that ruined the show was the Red Hot Chile Peppers. Mars had it under control with great rhythm and songs that rocked.

LOL Who are you kidding? I hope you're kidding. That half time show was mediocre, much like the game (and no I'm not a fan of either team). But seriously you just didn't call Bruno Mars better than the Rolling Stones.

Opera should stay in the Met not the Super Bowl -- she was too slow , no feeling ,boring and was more concerned with her voice and showing off her high notes than the singing the Anthem -the way it should be sung- a little more upbeat

Disagree, that is one of the few times the National Anthem was performed the way it should be performed and not all _ _ _ _ed up like so many have performed it. She was outstanding.

Is it really a "fun fact" that the musicians weren't paid? Why don't they just not pay the players or any of the administrators, either? Musicians work hard and study for years and deserve compensation.

I don't understand why they wouldn't be paid. It seems the NFL really has a racket going on. Somehow they are considered a non-profit, they charge an astronomical fee for Super Bowl tickets and they gouge entertainers. Sounds less that legal to me.
