His ex's Mother lived in my tiny hometown for awhile.Folks saw Mrs Namath and their two daughters once in awhile.I think Joe went thru a rough divorce. He was talking in one interview a year or two ago of how if he had a son,he wouldn't let the kid play football.
Where has this reporter been hiding? Joe has been wearing fur coats for decades. The referee (who also made a great mid-air grab) was the one who flubbed. He never asked the visiting team to call heads or tails. Joe was only told to flip the coin........ Namath is one of the all-time greats. He played with two damaged knees. Had he been healthy, his remarkable record would be many times greater. I still remember that magical day in the Orange Bowl, when he made his prediction come true. ROLL TIDE!
Isn't the ref who asks heads or tails not the celeb who flips the coin !
Give Joe a break! He gives the NFL a human interest far beyond the pop performers at halftime.
That is a 1970s coat for sure. SUPERFLY.
Joe is still the coolest guy around! If you have never met him, he takes time to learn who you are and treats those who meet him feel welcome. Great guy!!
The ref flubbed it, not Joe.He stepped back before explaining who was calling it, then stepped back up because he remembered.
Harriet G Harper I thought the coat was beautiful. I had one similar years ago but it was partially destroyed in a fire. As for "Broadway Joe" He will always be a great quarterback in my book. He could have been just a little nervous at the coin toss at the SuperBowl. Who Knows. I just have great memories of him playing.
Braodway Joe-- As the "Fonz" used to say "cool is a dying art". Glad someone is left that still displays this art form!
Are people brain dead.? The ref forgot to ask the captain to call heads or tails!! He handed the coin to Joe and then stepped back! He remembered just in time to catch the coin and only then did he ask heads or tails ! Watch the tape bonehead media outlets !
