JK Rowling says 'Harry Potter' ending may be wrong

J.K. Rowling Has Second Thoughts About 'Harry Potter' Ending

LONDON (AP) -- Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is having second thoughts about having ended the series with heroine Hermione Granger paired up romantically with Ron Weasley.

The hugely successful author tells Wonderland magazine she chose the red-haired Ron for Hermione for very personal reasons having little to do with literature.

She told the magazine she "wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment" and said the couple might eventually need relationship counseling.

The soon-to-be published interviewed was reported in The Sunday Times, which also quoted actress Emma Watson, who played Hermione, expressing doubts about the viability of her character's relationship with Ron.

She told the newspaper that many fans doubt Ron can make Hermione happy over time.

Many fans had hoped Harry and Hermione would become a couple.

Literature reflects that which is life....Jo Rowling gave Ron and Hermione the relationship; what they make of it throughout their lives is theirs alone to live....All you need is love? You can't avoid all of life's pitfalls...it's how you handle those challenges that defines you, however....Life is never just...it is perfect in its imperfections..."it is our choices that make us who we are, Harry!" (Dumbledore) Marriage counselling or not, I'd like to believe in the power of love carrying them through all logic aside!

The books were great. Anyone who read it, knows what terrific chemistry Ron and Hermione had. However, JK needs to move on from making comments about books that have been published and cannot be changed. She can write more HP books if she wants to change things now.

yes, that's what annoyed me about the whole "dumbledore is gay" .... i couldn't care less, but then write the books that way in the first place, or just shut up already... was asking rowling about dumbledore's sexuality a thing?....

It's fiction people you can write your own ending in your head. I wanted Harry to hook up with the little blond. Freaky

I think it works. Ron's quiet stability keeping Hermies adventurous spirit somewhat in check. He is stable and content and she needs that in her life. I like the choice even if Rowling doesn't. I know, who am I to say? No one. But I like the way it ended so I guess its cool.

The series - regardless of how "you" would like them to end, has become one of the best-loved series for kids of ALL ages. Cudos to the author that they mirrored relationships enough that - as in real life - they could have ended up many different ways. How many of us have gone down the relationship path with the one, the only - the absolute soul mate - the first time around. The books brought us excitement, fantasy, many life lessons in the learning. Thank you, Ms. Rowling.

Yeah? SO did a hundred other books. Read something written before you were born and then come back and discuss her literary merits..most of which she stole from the classics anyway.

I hope she writes a FEW more Harry Potter books, she has a wealth of a story lines here. The kids are grown up and what they can all do now if they all keep in touch with each other, call on each other from time to time to fight evil, they could be a new force agains the bad guys, and we know who will be running that side! If I were a writer I'd have a few things for them to do and solve, Rowling is a wonderful writer I KNOW she must have a few ideas of her own...PLEASE do a few more books, this is an old lady asking.

Hermione and Ron could only have ended up together...after all, the whole series was very innocent and long drawn-out foreplay between these two "opposite" characters.

No need to rewrite (fictional) history at this point. J.K. Rowling has made BILLIONS on this wonderful series...she should give it a rest now.

NO!!!!!!!!!! we need more, they are all grown up and what wonders are waiting for them to deal with out there, they could keep in touch with their friends for help from time to time, what if Hermione becomes a teacher...wouldn't se be a great one, and we all know who can teach the black arts. I'm an old lady but I truley love this stuff.

quite true.... ron and hermione's long term bickering and jealousies is what passes for foreplay among the pre-teen crowd.... on the other hand, harry and ginny have some sort of modest dignity about them which makes them well-suited for each other... hermione and harry just wouldn't work...

Many of the smartest women I know wound up marrying stupid men who are absolutely beneath them in every way, so I don't think this match is unrealistic at all. However, I would have been much, much happier to have seen Hermione paired off with Harry in the end. Frankly, it wouldn't have mattered much who Ron ended up with. He's a great character, but he could have fallen for pretty much anyone else, and it would have been just fine. Hermione and Harry made more sense in the context of the story and would have been a more heroic, interesting couple. I agree with the author that she got it wrong. Then again, she made millions and wrote a story that truly sparkles, especially the first book, so she did something right!

Oh why kill off Ron?? He's too sweet and a loyal friend and his family is crazy and warm loving people, Ron is an important part of this story line. Hermione and Harry are both stron minded, they would but heads all the time, it's best if one part of a couple gives in, I don't see either her or Harry doing that.

NO! NO! NO! ron is my favorite character and rupert grint played him to perfection.... if you had read "the deathly hallows" you'd know who did or did not have children... put down the remote and read the books....

love hermione, but she is and always will be a showoff... this tendency alone makes her a poor match for harry, who would prefer to go through life flying under the radar (unless it's in a quidditch match).... she and ron, however, could generate romcom's for years to come...
