This has nothing to do with Christian condemnation nor fault to any origin other than addiction....an illness. Our accomplished actor suffered and unfortunately his colleagues chose not to interfere.
the guy may have been a good actor but come on lets face reality here he had a well hidden drug addiction All of hollywood execept for a few have drug and alchol problems Now he is with his maker and no longer in need of his drug addiction and does not have to hide anymore. Hollywood is dramatic it makes me laugh I guess just because you have money does not make you immune to death . May god rest his soul and yes I Said GOD so please do not send me a mean and nonsence filled reply about God . Drugs are to big of a problem Just look at Justin Bieber what a waste all that talent I guess he thought he was above the law. Everyone is subject to the same things it is all how you make your choices. I am ready for the feedback no stupid give an honest opinion.
Your bringing "God" into the conversation is "mad and nonsenical" enough for anyone. Sorry to be so mean to you, but someone has to.
Your gross generalization about Hollywood and entertainers was a tad over the top. First, stop watching so much T.V. It can be addictive (as illustrated by your 'apparent" fascination with it). Try experiencing the real world through your own eyes. Alcohol abuse (long and short-term) is a much bigger problem among the general population than drug abuse. Alcohol addiction is just as strong as Heroin addiction. The complications due to long term alcohol abuse account for many more hospitalizations (and increases in insurance premiums) than complications resulting from drug abuse. Both alcohol and drugs (illegal and prescribed) are more common among the general population than among the higher profile entertainers. Alcohol is a very powerful Central Nervous System (CNS) depressant. It's just as addictive as Heroin. Chronic alcohol abuse is the #1 cause of Cirrhosis (Fatty Liver). Witnessing someone in the last stages of Cirrhosis is not easy. The complications are ugly. Have you checked the number of deaths due to DUI's lately? Acute Alcohol Poisoning is an increasingly serious problem among our youth.
What a terrible loss. He will be missed by many R.I.P.
These horrible demons - God help us all. RIP
Wow what a loss... I loved him in all the movies and wish his family and friends peace threw this time... He was truly a very versitile actor and nothing stopped him... Truly a loss...
I am so sorry that such a great talent has passed away especially due to drugs. It is shameful that more is not done to assist those that are hurting so deeply that drugs is their alternative and it is so very hard to quit by yourself you need to reach out and ask God and others for help. A wonderful actor has left the stage of life.
Addicts also are predisposed to this disease we also are born with a genetic code, just as you. Once they temp their fate it is a death sentence, just as a diabetic would if he kept eating sweets.! The only medicine that will help it go into remission is abstinence. At least the other diseases have the medicine to help keep it at bay or go away entirely....the addict only has "will" and that in itself is tested in this cruel world of constant stress and sadness. Yes maybe in a moment of "WEAKNESS" the addicts pick up, only to be stuck in the horrible disease once again. Phillip had 23 years of continuous sobriety, he suffered with a lot of demons beating at his door, he failed to take his insulin, which was his "will" to stay sober and the disease took him. R.I.P. Phillip. God be with his family.
Your post is 150% true, and probably the best one here. Thank god for people like you that do not condemn & understand that addiction is really a chronic disease that must be treated like any other chronic disease. Perhaps when people realize this & cease to stigmatize drug addiction, it can be treated properly. This is a tragic loss---he was a very talented man who stayed out of the spotlight & lived his life privately. What a shame that he was clean for 23 years & couldn't get the monkey off his back to defeat it this time. R.I.P.
he had such a fun personality and was a really great actor... soooo sorry to hear he's gone now... such a waste... heroin is so addictive
Loved the guy. He has such presence and usually the character he plays 'consumes' him.We are losing a good one.
I guess he can be an example for others not to do it. Just thinking positive. Since the war on drugs is being lost. Every man for himself!
