Police searching for gunman who shot two students near Michigan State University

2 Students Shot Near Michigan State University

Police have confirmed two people were shot in an apartment complex near Michigan State University Friday night.

Police say one is in critical condition. The other was treated at the hospital and released, according to WAVY.

MSU police notified students about the shooting via text message and Twitter Friday night. The tweet also gave a description of the suspected gunman, who authorities say is still at large.

WOOD reports officials say they don't believe the shooting was random, and they are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Some Michigan State University students who live nearby told WLNS they heard arguing coming from the apartment before the incident, but they couldn't say who was involved.

According to WBZ-TV, the shooting hasn't affected any activity on MSU's campus, even though it took place less than a mile away from the university.

Police told reporters early Saturday morning there was no further information on the case to release at the time.

There was aniother shootiung at Ferris State this weekend. As for gun control those who are law abiding have nighting to woryy about. My question is how do we control the guns in the hands of the criminals? When law abiding people have no guns and the criminals do who has the advantage?

Then by all means tell that to the rappers and hip hoppers and movies and video games that glorify this lifestyle, i dont see why people dont get that, but boy bring up banning this from rap ,or video games and you get half this nation up in arms. The grownups defend the gaming more than the kids, and those listening to craping music have never grown ,up

UUmmm.....NO! There was only one shooting where one student died and the shooter was Black; Nice try at trying to make this look like two shootings instead of one!

You won't see that. It's "only" blacks and the media doesn't care. Plus, since gun control is extreme there, it doesn't work with their agenda.

Nobody's dead, but since people were shot NEAR a school, ANY school, it makes national headlines. Why? NEAR a school? Come on. How about using the word "criminal" in the headline every time somebody beaking the law by even having a gun commits a gun crime. I would also think that making sure every time somebody illegally takes a gun into a gun free zone to commit a crime that people would realize how dangerous gun free zones are. Nobody starts shooting at Tea Party or biker rallies because they know they'll die in the hail of gunfire that immediately gets loosed on them. Get rid of soft targets like gun free zones and there will be fewer mass shootings.

The 24 hour news cycle requires ever more sensationalized stories to keep people watching. I've been to the area of the shooting, and I'll tell you that it was almost certainly drug-related. However, drug deal shootings, which used to be a big thing, don't garner much viewer interest anymore. The new story du jour is the school shooting. Back before CNN invented 24 hour news, this story wouldn't have been reported outside of Lansing. Now, news channels have their pick of stories from all over the country to sensationalize in order to keep the sheeple glued to their TV's - or computer screens, as the case may be.

I agree, no surprise. Because, had it been a white shooter, it would be on-campus and random. They shoot everyone is sight. Nothing will ever top the Sandy Hook and Columbine shootings. So you can just sit your racistass DOWN.

This shooting had nothing to do with the college. Just because the housing complex was near the school, doesn't make it a school shooting

Oh, well. THAT's not news. It's just dog bites man stuff. That kind of info only comes out when it's the other way around, once in a blue moon. We can't be bothered when someone steals someone else's newspaper. Too mundane.
(Now you just can't say THAT on HuffPost)
