LOS ANGELES (AP) - Elton John, Lady Gaga and the movie "Dallas Buyers Club" are among the nominees for awards presented by the gay advocacy group GLAAD.

The 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards honor outstanding images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in areas including music, movies, TV and journalism.

On Thursday, GLAAD announced 93 nominees in the English-language categories, with cable channels earning 28 bids and broadcast networks receiving 11. Netflix earned its first nomination for the series "Orange is the New Black."

There are 37 Spanish-language nominees, including a stand-alone bid in the novela category for Univision's "Amores Verdaderos," which included the wedding of a gay couple.

The GLAAD Media Awards will be presented in Los Angeles and New York this spring.

There are so many different opinions and feelings posted here. Some with hostility and anger and others simply stating their beliefs. My feeling on the matter of homosexuality is that everyone has the right to love whomever they choose. My wife and I have a variety of friends and see the same relationship issues and elations with our Gay friends as we do our Heterosexual friends. The hatred spewed by the intolerance of those that hate gays and the same spewed by the gays who demand all people accept and embrace their lifestyle is ludicrous. Unless the lifestyle decisions made by someone directly affects you, what do you care how they feel?? When I was in the Navy I was given the best advice ever by a salty CPO. "If a person does not control your work schedule, your amount of pay or the amount of sex you have then their opinion of you means nothing."

Hate looses, and love wins. Sorry, haters, you and your uneducated heads lose every time.

Wasn't life easier when you were in the closet! Do you really need to paste = signs all over your cars? You push tollerance, however you have none for those who oppose your lifestyle!

I'm a Christian and a pastor with the United Church of Christ, and I'm not a "hater." In fact, the UCC has been a trailblazing advocate for the LGBT community and thus by extension for everyone - because we all benefit when the celebration of human dignity and love rules the day. Please don't fall prey to answering hypocrisy and hate with your own hypocrisy and hate. When you condemn all Christians and all Christianity because of a bunch of bullies and loudmouths you just contribute to the problem! Don't be so lazy. Learn what's really going on in the Christian community.

Is Gay Voices going to have an article on how Chik Filet handed out food to stranded motorists during the snow storm? I bet gays didn't turn down that food.

Bigotry is alive and well and kicking in 2014 but that only makes me more determined to persevere in the fight for equality. We shall overcome some day!

It's amazing how all the "Christians" out there are the most hateful people in the world. People like them make people like me atheist. Who wants to be part of a group of haters. They hate everything and everyone who doesn't believe as they do. If there is a god... he would be very ashamed of those who call themselves "Christians" . I'm sure he'd be more impressed with the gays who show more love, kindness and who are more tolerant of those who are different.

It's sad to see so many people so filled with hate. I remember what it was like before Stonewall and we're not going back there. I can even remember who you hated before us..... wonder who you're going to hate next.
