Court begins deliberations in 3rd Knox trial

Italy Knox
FLORENCE, Italy (AP) - A Florence appeals court has begun deliberations in the murder trial of U.S. student Amanda Knox in the absence of the star defendant.

The court entered chambers at 10:15 Thursday morning, with the last round of rebuttals by Knox's defense team closing four months of arguments in the third trial for the brutal 2007 murder of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher.

Knox's lawyer Carlo Dalla Vedova told the court he is "serene" about the verdict because he believes the only conclusion from the case files is "the innocence of Amanda Knox."

While Knox awaited the verdict half-world away in her hometown of Seattle, her co-defendant and ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, was in court.

A verdict is expected later Thursday.

Let's look at the timeline. First judge in the case saw how he found the opportunity for fame. To drag this case, he needed to put Amanda on trial. Putting Amand on trial is putting the United States on trial. Find her guilty no matter what and put a stain on America's face. That us Americans can't do anything because he's running this show. Amanda appealed. And using the impartial and expertise of forensic science, proved without a shadow of a doubt she was "not guilty". Booyah! Stain right back at you. Heehaw! The embarassment of the judge put a stain on the justice system in Italy. It was exposed as a "Kangaroo Court". Relying on heavy handed opinions and the gossip of the neighborhood watch. "He said She said". This same judge was unfazed. Got his mojo back and appealed to the supremo (i mean) supreme court. America! let's get behind our fellow American. Amada deserves a better life. This anguish she is going through feels like the hemorrhoids that'll always be there. Pull the best legal minds together and crush this stain once and for all.

OMG! How many times does Italy try a murder case? If you do not like the verdict you just give her another trial until Italy likes the verdict.., Really? Please be thankful we live in the United States. Italy must not understand double jeopardy. They have a man in jail already that had finger prints all over the apartment where they lived. Amanda and her boyfriend (at the time), Raffaele, were not home. My heart goes out to the deceased Meredith Kercher, but they really need to have a better detectives in Italy. What botched detective work. They should lock up the investigators! If I was Amanda I would never return to Italy under no circumstances. She should never be returned to their country! Amanda Knox and her ex boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito are not guilty of this crime! Just look at the evidence and the botched investigative work on this case. They should send some of the U.S. murder investigators over their to solve this crime. They would tell the Italian government that they already have their suspect locked up!

Charlie, I happened to be in Italy during this mess and the police were walking all through the house not taking any care to preserve any evidence how to I know? Because unlike our CNN they show everything there. It was a mess from start to finish. It went on for days.. The court and press did not like Amanda from the start. She did not do the crime and she is nothing like the guy in Russia

Ms. Knox is now back in the US and is protected by the US Constitution, specifically the 5th Amendment. Should the US government illegally try to deport her then she can defend herself in accordance with her 2nd Amendment rights, and I'm sure there will be a number of people like me who will help her do so. That's right I said it.

This really make you think about going outside the Unithed States, there is a lot of places to visit here, and we do have the most fair judicial system in the world.

I say to heck with the Italy court system they had her found her not guilty and then their court system wants to go back and try her again shame on them,if I were Amanda I would not go back to their mistake it is their fault to bad shame on your court system.Sorry for the dead girl and her family but Italy dropped the ball and let her come home to bad get over it you all lost.Stay here and do not go back, how long was you locked up in their jail system and they are just now finding new material against you shame on them.I would not worry about it,you were found not guilty and let go stay here in the U.S.A and stay not guilty.

Sure am glad i don't live in Italy. I think the punishment for ''jay-walking'' is death!!!!!
The government is corrupt, broke, and basically full of excrement.
I wouldn't blame The Pope if He decided to leave !
