LAKESIDE, Calif. - A speeding driver crashed her car into the bedroom of a Lakeside house, narrowly missing a sleeping baby early Thursday.

The crash in the 8800 block of Los Coches Road was reported at 2:06 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman lost control of her black Toyota Scion sedan, jumped a curb, crashed through a backyard fence and into a bedroom where 5-month-old Conhur Maston as sleeping in his crib. The impact pushed the crib away from the wall, but the child was not hurt.

Connor's mother, Laurie Maston, was sleeping when the crash shook the house.

'I woke up to the crash and a car horn and go to grab him, and there's stuff between me and the crib which shouldn't have been there - very scary,' Maston said. 'But we're both OK, so we're OK with that - that we have somebody looking out for us.'

Maston said the Scion driver was hysterical and complained of back pain. Paramedics took her to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the CHP said. Investigators said that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

What are the odds? Here in the Philly region about 50-50. Cautionary tale here folks - don't put the nursery in the garage (where it apparently was) because some drunk dingbat will drive through the wall.

Glad no one was hurt! The house looks fine, you guys are so hateful over nothing. We don't all make a ton of money, in fact, some folks can't afford "normal" furniture and there is nothing wrong with using plastic drawers for storing miscellaneous clothes/toys/supplies. Additionally, it's not at all unusual that there is clutter and debris laying about. A freaking CAR came through an exterior wall. The fact that a comments about this is even taking place shows how degenerate the lot of you are. Like other here have said, get over yourself.

The mother was just grateful to have her child alive and she is full of love and forgiveness. She is probably a hard working single mother trying her best to raise her child. Her child appeared to be happy and healthy and LOVED, which is what is important and what so many of the comments here seem to lack. All the best to you mother and baby and hopefully some of these folks who are judging you will lift a hand to help you instead.

Typical American cheap paper house, few sticks, some drywall and not much else. Homes in the US look and are built more like temporary movie sets rather than permanent structures.

No real damage. Rental property. Couple two by fours and a new piece of drywall. Tenants could (conceivably) paint the room if the landlord gave them the paint and half the month's rent off. Nah, just renters. They don't want to be bothered.

Damn! Looking at the childs bedroom looks more dangerous than the car damage. I think mom needs to clean up her act. I am glad the child wasn't harmed.

The dangerous looking bedroom was the result of a car crashing thru the wall and making a mess. The lady said the crib was pushed away from the wall by the impact so imagine what else was trashed. I'm sure the room didn't look like before.

that was not a crib that was a pack and play and that baby should be in a crib, plastic drawers etc, come on, look around the room that wasn't affected by the crash.

People should give more thought to furniture placement. A crib should NOT be placed on an outside faceing wall. Just as a dresser or furniture should NOT be placed against a "common" or attached wall in a Condominium. Many people place furniture with drawers against adjoining walls at a condo and the neighbors keep hearing drawers being slammed because the furniture hits the walls and transfers the sound.

Right, it would be much better to push the bed and headboard against a common wall then everyone can be entertained in the wee hours!

jennie, why do you have to taint a moment of thanksgiving from this grateful mother by insulting her?

That poor kid lives in filth. Also, the kid didn't "dodge" anything and the car was not "flying".
