NY congressman threatens reporter at Capitol

N.Y. Congressman To Reporter: 'I'll Break You In Half'

WASHINGTON (AP) - New York Rep. Michael Grimm is defending his actions after he physically threatened a reporter at the Capitol after President Barack Obama's State of the Union address.

The confrontation began Tuesday when Michael Scotto, a reporter for New York cable news station NY1, asked Grimm about a Justice Department investigation into his campaign finances.

After cutting the interview short, Grimm told Scotto, "You ever do that to me again I'll throw you off this (expletive) balcony." He also threatened to "break (Scotto) in half."

NY1 posted video of the incident on its website.

Grimm later issued a statement saying he was "extremely annoyed" with Scotto and doubted he was the "first member of Congress to tell off a reporter."

NY1 political director Bob Hardt demanded a "full apology" from Grimm.

are the reasons the huffington post requires facebook to leave a comment.ir posts political or financial? either way is there any to get rid of the wecome and still use tha aol desktop 'cause i really don't want anything to do with them.on top of everything else half their bloggers think reposting a video with no commentary is journalism.

I noticed since HuffPo made that commenting change, most of the people who still comment over there are Libs. I guess Conservatives are concerned about their names getting out and then being audited by the IRS!

I know guys like this and it shows what kind of person he really is. He is in politics for the power. He can't earn loyalty, he must command it. There are many on both sides of the aisle like this. What he should have said, was "I don't have time to answer questions on that right now but contact my office and we'll meet" and just walk away.

He didn`t just tell off a reporter,he threatened with a verbal assault.Only pols can get away with it.The rest of us are useless until voting time comes around.Washington as a whole is a farce.
