I don't have much to say for Obama and never have. He talks out of both sides of his mouth and I can't understand why people can't see through his smoke cloud of deceit. Allen West would make 10 times better president than Obama

PPL ... instead of criticizing the President try to help him out with your ideas. It's not just his country, my country, your country, democratic country, republic country, communist country, or whatever people or haters like to call it. At the end of the day it's our country. We live here and we need to fix it ourselves instead of criticizing every little step he takes. People elected him in office twice. minority which doesn't count didn't.This is his last term, like every other presidents he has his ups and downs. So lets work with him in his remaining term in office and make America a better place to live in and the world to follow. look at the low income and middle class working hard to make those upper class people rich with minimum wages and so forth and look at those rich few who don't want to pay equal percentage of tax. Someone justify their salaries, bonuses, luxury meetings, vacations, massages and all. Just sitting around, hardly attending office or when they wish, going out on business trips. What about the working class who are struggling and trying hard to build America. I Very much agree with Chowdur's comments. As far as I think the president is doing a great job if republicans have ideas why don't they put it to the table instead of objecting to his every little move. This is not a chess game it's the sake of our country.

It's not what the president says that really matters, it's that the spoiled children in Congress are more focued on personal power than in serving the American people who had hired them to fix the country's problems! The Republican response after the speach was a diatribe that criticized Obama with comments like (to wit): "His plan isn't working, but we Republicans have a plan to fix everything!" OK, then let's hear it, or just shut the Hell up!

Depends on what you mean about "EVERYTHING". You seemed to leave out the part that this is a Democratic Senate and POTUS, that is in NO WAY interested in ANY plan the House comes up with regarding just about ANYTHING. The mantra so far with this Administration is that it's OUR WAY, or the HIGHWAY.

ISN'T IT AMAZING HOW STUPIDITY AND HATE CAN TAKE OVER A MIND...EASY PICKING FOR SOMEONE WITH THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM TO COME UP WITH SUCH A RIDICULOUS NOT TO WELL PUT TOGETHER SENTANCE. EDUCATION, AND READING MAY HELP.

Speaking of education, Walt. You say "To come up with such a ridiculous not to well put together sentance...." IT SHOULD SAY "To come up with such a ridiculous, not TOO well put together sentEnce"... I would say that spelling, punctuation, use of proper tebse and sentence structure should definitely be on your list of things to study.

It was would be nice if some of the things he proposed would take place, but first Congress must get its act together, and the house speaker will have to work harder to do that, they were sent to Washington to work , not to play

Obamacare is by far his biggest single achievement. It was slated to take full effect as of 01/01/14. And it has by far been largest topic for news stories over the past few months. But the president went 2/3 of his speech before it was mentioned, and only then briefly touched on it. He pointed to a person or two it has helped, and then touted the number of enrollees that even the liberal Washington Post said was very misleading. If this law was even a slight success, there is no way, given the state of the current economy, that he wouldn't have made the main focal point of the speech.

This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It's her future she's worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she's being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX

PUT ME IN CHARGE . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good.."

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov't subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov't welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

Now, if you have the guts - PASS IT ON...I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET THIS BACK, IF EVERYONE SENDS IT, I WILL GET OVER 220 BACK!!! I WOULD KNOW YOU SENT IT ON!!!

Sounds exactly like "communism". Who's going to pay for all the inspectors you want to inspect homes, workplaces, welfare offices, grocery stores and refrigerators for violations? Your gang of hate-filled christian conservatives? Will you execute people for violating your laws? Are you worms going to change the Constitution so only ones who "pay" can vote? Sounds like you should form your own country where you can control everyone without any consquences, hopefully far, far away.

Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies (Ps. 139:21-22).
