Diesel Hits $3.094 Per Gallon

Gasoline prices are steady this week as diesel heads higher, according to an Energy Information Administration report released today.

The national average price for regular gasoline clocked in at $3.295 per gallon today, a slight $0.001 below a week ago and $0.062 below the same time last year. East Coast prices helped keep prices down with a $0.012 dip, while the Midwest was the only region to raise prices, up $0.019.

While gas prices stayed relatively steady, diesel prices increased $0.031 over the past week to $3.904 per gallon. Despite the increase, this latest price tag still puts diesel $0.023 per gallon below the same time last year. East Coast prices made a large $0.05 move up, while Gulf Coast prices barely budged, adding just $0.001.

At these latest prices, the West Coast pays the prettiest penny for gasoline ($3.486) while the East Coast doles out the most for diesel ($3.996). Meanwhile, the Gulf Coast can guzzle gas for just $3.092 and diesel for $3.772 per gallon.
