Top notch performers take the stage Sunday night

From seasoned veterans to first timers, the 56th Annual Grammy awards this Sunday will be a star-studded showcase of the year in music. New comers Imagine Dragons and Kasey Musgraves will share the stage with the likes of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Madonna and Metallica. Power couple JayZ and Beyonce will perform together in what's sure to be one of the evening's high water marks.

Beyonce and JayZ are very talented performers. However, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are legends. Just as we still know that William Shakespeare lived and was one of the greatest writers ever (with his work still being performed today), so will people still play or sing Beatles music four hundred years from now. JayZ and Beyonce, as wonderful as they are, will not be remembered by historians and future generations. In my humble opinion, Ringo and Paul are the "high water mark."

Thank you so, so much for using the word "performer" rather than the overused (and unmerited) "artist."

Over the river and through the woods to Grammy's house we go. Lorde will rise, most others will fall.
