Scottish couple never coming back to America

Bear Shocks Elderly Couple Visiting California

A couple visiting the US from Scotland is going to head home with a very crazy story to share.

In this incredible surveillance video, Bob and Irene McKeowns are seen calmly locking the door of their relative's Pasadena home while a bear lurks beside them. The camera then shows the obliviously couple walking out of the frame, likely towards their car, and the bear following right behind them.

Seconds later, Irene was getting into their car when Bob felt the bear rubbing up against his leg, at which point he ran back inside the house while Irene waited safely inside the locked vehicle.

Bob recaps the event to KABC: 'I felt something brush against my leg. I says, I left the dog in the house, shouldn't be here. So once I closed the door, I turned around and shouted 'It's a bear! It's a bear!'

Bob was able to get his bearings and get inside with just a small nick on his leg from a 'little bear swipe.'

Well if it was a baby bear cub then a mommy bear was close by I would assume and that could have been trouble for this couple.

What a extremely observant couple... out the door, turn and lock the door, walk from the house to the car, open the door, then you feel something rub your leg. One usually looks around a little when and befor leaving the house... hopefully you live nowhere near any sort of cliff or drop off. :)

Always use your peripheral vision. Anyway, people wearing glass do have problem seeing out of the corners of their eyes, plus these are elderly folks.

Awww. That bear is just a young 'un. Looks like it's used to people, too. May be got fearful misplaced and that couple not noticing it was exactly the right thing to happen. Not alarm it and they get away safely.

It was a cub but momma's not far away and that's who you want to avoid.

It was just a cub, no killer instince yet. Used to run across them frequently where I lived. One approached my car one night and stuck it's nose in the window. It was just curious. I'm sure mama wasn't far away.
