Champagne cork flies in the wrong direction
"Good Morning America" reminds us we should always be careful when opening a bottle of champagne...especially when doing so around priceless artwork.
Roberto Cassago was at a holiday party at the Palazzo Isimbardi, which houses Milan's provincial government, when he opened a champagne bottle, sending the cork flying through an oil painting by an unknown artist, one worth several thousand dollars.
The champagne cost about fifty bucks a bottle; repairs to an 18th century painting cost $1,400.
The Telegraph says Cassago is willing to pay for the painting's restoration if the government's insurance company refuses to cover the damage.
